James Roger LopazFebruary 3, 1922 ~ November 19, 2017 (age 95)
On November 19, 2017, our beloved father and grandfather returned to heaven. James Roger Lopaz was born on February 3, 1922 in Ogden, Utah to Myrtle Higley Lopaz and Leroy Paul Lopaz.
In his younger years, James opened and ran Modern TV and Radio, and later TV Exchange in Ogden. During this time, he invented the Campertenna. He later worked at Hill Air Force Base as an electronics technician, and retired in 1991. He continued to enjoy tinkering with TV’s and radios, and had a large collection of TV and radio tubes. He was a veteran of WWII and he graduated from Carnegie Tech.
Throughout his life, James enjoyed traveling. He and his wife loved going to Kona, Hawaii, and to Mesa, Arizona to escape the cold Utah winters. He loved hunting, and enjoyed fishing with his grandson, Ryan.
James had four children: Steve (Vickie) Lopaz, Jerry Lopaz, William Lopaz, and Regina (Scott) Larsen; his step-son, Rick Ashley; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William; brothers, Don and Bill; and his beloved wife, Ruth.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00am at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah.
