Aaron Michael Berlin

Aaron Michael Berlin, 32, returned to his Heavenly Father, in the arms of his Mom, his Dad by his side, and surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday November 28, 2018 in Ogden, Utah, after a short hospital stay. He was born on April 7, 1986 to Marla Neeley Halverson. At the age of one, Aaron lost his sweet Mother and was adopted by his loving aunt and uncle, Michelle N. Berlin and Martin A. Berlin.

He graduated from Wooster High School in Wooster, Ohio and went on to work in several different occupations, including the oil fields of Wyoming and HAVC with Ben Lomond Heating and Air.

Aaron loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending many hours with friends and family, fishing, hunting, standing around a campfire, riding snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, motorcycles, and anything with an engine! He found joy in the simplest things and was happiest just being with the ones he loved, which were many. He loved to work with his hands and loved to tear things down to see how they worked. In his early years……and to his Dad’s dismay, he wasn’t quite as good at putting them back together! However, he became a great handyman and blessed many by offering his services.

Aaron was married to Lisa Crocker in Ogden, UT. They later divorced. He had the opportunity to be a Father to her child, Johanna, and counted this as one of his greatest blessings. He was a wonderful father and loved her like his own.

Aaron was a big Teddy Bear and had a wonderful way with children. His large stature and awful beard would sometimes initially have small children keeping their distance. Aaron would have none of that! He would scoop them up and talk with them face-to-face, and within seconds, they were in love! He spent many hours playing with and talking to our little ones. A favorite sight was to see him sleeping with a baby or child comfortably snuggled into his big chest. Of course, he was snoring, but it didn’t seem to bother either of them. He was the “Universal Father”, as he embodied all the qualities that make up the best in all Dads.

Aaron’s sister Karli had this to say about him. “Aaron was and always will be one of our Heavenly Father’s truly prized Spirits. He was capable of exhibiting the true meaning of unconditional love. He was gifted with the ability to see beyond one’s surface and to love each and every individual despite their imperfections. It didn’t matter how you looked, where you came from, or what wrongs you had committed. He was always there waiting to embrace you with his enveloping hug, melting away shards of ice. Aaron was able to forever affect people in a positive way. His infectious laugh lightened the mood and brightened every room. We love you Aaron!” One of his nieces, Shae, said it perfectly. “He was my best friend! I’ll love you forever Aaron and I’ll be with you forever!” I’m sure this is true for all his nieces and nephews, as well as for all who knew him. Yes, Shae, “Families are Forever!”

Aaron wasn’t a particularly religious man, but he was a spiritual man. He had a testimony of Jesus Christ and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was the perfect example of Christlike love and instantly forgave any offence. Despite dealing with many difficult things in his life, his character embodied the perfections of unconditional love, service, peacemaker, unselfishness, and charity……”The pure love of Christ.” He was a father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  

His Mother, Michelle, was always there for him. She loved and raised him as her own and fulfilled her sacred role in his life. We know that Marla is proud of, and grateful to her. His Dad, Marty, is humbled by Aaron’s example and character and will always be grateful to be his Dad.

Aaron is survived by his parents, Marty and Michelle Berlin; Brothers and sisters, Shaun (Carol) Halverson, Clearfield, UT; Heather Olsen, Tremonton, UT; Zack (Lindsay) Berlin, Tremonton, UT; Bryce (Shannon) Olsen, N. Ogden, UT; Karli Berlin, Layton, UT; Kayli (Jim) Romer, Syracuse, UT; Brock (McKenzie) Berlin, West Haven, UT; Ray (Stormy) Hawks, Ogden, UT; Clint Hawks, Ogden, UT; Grandmother, Clarice Jenkins Neeley, Ogden, UT; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Mother, Marla Neeley Halverson; Grandparents, Elliott and Shirley Berlin; Reed and Pat Neeley; Neal and Beth Hawks.

A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at McKay Dee Hospital for their kind and loving care for Aaron in his last days, and to his friends and family for their outpouring of love and support.

As Aaron would have wished, there will be no formal services. An Open House for friends and family will be held at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Bryce and Shannon Olsen on Tuesday December 4th from 6-8 p.m. at 739 E. 3800 N., N. Ogden, UT. Food and drinks will be served.

Cremation by Aaron’s Mortuary. His ashes will be buried with his Mother at a later date.
