The long goodbye-
Alan, 69 passed away on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 in the arms of his beloved wife and family. He bravely fought 11 years of disease and pain never losing his sense of humor and wit. He will always be remembered as a hard working, strong family man that gave his all.
He was born to Lewis and LaVerne Davis in Ogden, Utah. His childhood was of humble means growing up in Roy and Taylor Utah. He and his wife, Eileen met at the age of 16 and were teenage sweethearts. They were married and sealed in the Ogden Utah Temple on November 29th 1974. This past year they celebrated 50 years of marriage. They raised 5 daughters and one son, leaving a lasting legacy of their bond as a loving eternal family.
Alan began his career as a Journeyman Boilermaker working for Union Local #183. His employment history included Hercules, Union Pacific Railroad and L-3 Communications as a project manager. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family so they could grow up in a house by the creek. He loved to open the windows and listen to it as he was in bed. He always said he could fix anything but a broken heart.
Alan loved to serve and uplift others. Some of his finest moments were when he served in the Bishopric of the Kays Creek Ward, it strengthened him and made him a better man. People were drawn to him for his contagious sense of humor, big hugs and crooked smile. He also loved to give a compliment to anyone that crossed his path. He could always sense someone in need of encouragement and never hesitated to brighten their day with his kindness.
He always felt close to his Heavenly Father and Christ in the mountains. He would slow down for a beautiful sunset or to look at the stars and he marveled at all creation. His love of all sports led him to love volleyball and basketball in his youth and adult life. He was an excellent fly fisherman and was in his element on a river. One of his favorite things was to gather his family in the mountains and camp together in nature.
He leaves behind his dear wifey, Eileen Nelson Davis, Shelly Stewart (Boyd) , Melanie Ray (Shawn Walker), Charlyn Ames (Derek), Jace Davis (Tiffany) and Krystal Parker (Jordan). He cherished his time with his 16 grandchildren. Em, Jonah, Hudson (Hannah), Gracie, Matthew, Sam, and Davis Stewart, Logan and Payton (Hayley) Ray, Easton (Brooklyn), Saige, and Gunner Ames, Maison and Elsie Davis, and Wells and Doss Parker. With one great grandson, Atlas Ames. They will dearly miss his surprises, hugs and words of encouragement.
We believe a grand reunion has taken place with his beautiful daughter Trisha who passed in 1997. He was also proceeded in death by his parents and 3 brothers Lewis Brent, Bruce and Brian Davis. He is survived by his sister Cheryl Nicole Bennett, Valerie Davis, Debbie Davis, and Mike (Kathy) Davis.
We will all cherish the time we were blessed to have with this giant of a man. No parting words or “I love you’s” were left unspoken. It was a pleasure to tend and care for the man who sacrificed everything for us.
