Alberto Aguayo passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. He was born on July 29, 1952, in Malpaso, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Juan Aguayo and Catalina Mendoza, whom he loved deeply and spoke of often.
Alberto married the love of his life, Kathy Burback, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared over 20 years of marriage and were blessed with one child, Alberto M. Aguayo, Jr. Their marriage was built on devotion, companionship, and laughter.
Alberto proudly served in the Mexico Army. He later worked as a teamster with the Teamsters Union, where he helped set up numerous shows at the Las Vegas Convention Center. A hardworking and self-reliant man, he also owned apartment complexes and personally handled all maintenance himself.
He had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures. Alberto enjoyed gardening, attending horse races, cooking traditional Mexican food, watching Mexican soccer, and dressing in his cowboy gear. He loved to dance and had a great sense of humor, often joking around and teasing the boys. When asked what he wanted to drink, his answer was always “whiskey.” Though playful, he was also serious and strong-willed, never allowing anyone to take advantage of him.
Alberto was a devoted family man who loved his family, his heritage, and his homeland of Mexico. He was raised Catholic and maintained his faith, while also showing interest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Alberto Aguayo will be remembered for his hard work, humor, strength, and deep love for his family and culture. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son: Alberto Michael Aguayo, Jr. (Lori Call); grandchildren: Francisco Elizay Aguayo and McKade Call; siblings: Alfredo Aguayo and Elvita Aguayo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Alejandro Aguayo; Step-son: Troy Carl Warnke, Sr.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Intermountain Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Alberto. Special thanks to his social worker, Hannah Miller; his nurse, Jamie Boi; and his CNA, Lexi, as well as all the staff at Intermountain Hospice who supported and cared for him.
No Memorial Services will be held, per Alberto’s wishes.
