Barbara Jean Harp Leato, 73, of Millcreek, Utah, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born on March 26, 1951, in Roswell, New Mexico to Joe Harp, Jr and Wynema Nadine Guss.
Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Richard Leato on June 20, 1969, in Redondo Beach, California. Barbara and Ken were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on November 7, 1970, and sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on June 21, 1974. They were later divorced.
Barbara, Ken, and their three children moved to Utah in November of 1980. They lived in Fruit Heights, Centerville, and finally in Ogden.
Barbara’s favorite calling was being a Sunbeam teacher. In her younger years she was very athletic and excelled in tennis and archery. Later in life, she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her six children. She was close to and loved her children immensely. She was blessed with 16 souls who knew her as Grandma Barbara.
As her children grew and got families of their own, she reveled in visits from them and her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her ex-husband, Kenneth Carmello Vitrano (Jenni); children: Christopher (Aston) Vitrano, Timothy (Chamae) Leato, Jeffrey Leato, Shannon (Aaron) White, Meghan (Shane) Sorenson, and Melissa (Brandon) Shell. Sister, Pamela Harp and brother, Joe Harp, III. Grandchildren; Violet, Zaden, Karli, Kenzi, Zoey, Kenny Jaydynce, Hannah, Aaron, Cooper, Macie, Hunter, Mason, Aeon, and Aurora.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Davon Vitrano.
The family would like to thank the Millcreek Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their loving service to Barbara through the years.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the LDS Chapel at 500 S Main Street in Kaysville, Utah, 84037. The public viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek, UT 84117 immediately following the services.
