Barbara Hollands

Barbara June Hollands, 94, passed away in Ogden, Utah on March 3, 2023. 

She was born in Salt Lake City on June 28, 1928 to her parents Lester J. Nielson, and Venice Hinckley Nielson.

Barbara married Thomas Doxey Hollands on August 17, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of 7 children: Janice (Frank) Heath, Lynette (Brent) Bowen, John Hollands, Shauna (Kevin) Garner, Patricia (David) Taylor, Laurie (Kelly) Lee, and Neil (Sharon) Hollands. They have 23 grandchildren,  61 great-grandchildren, and 3 great- great-grandchildren. 

Barbara was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many years, she was in the Relief Society presidency in her ward. She was also involved in DUP.

Barbara was a seamstress who made beautiful and stylish clothes for her children. She loved to quilt and do cross-stitch. In the evenings, she knitted sweaters, and baby items. Her hands were always busy. 

Barbara loved to travel. Early travel was in a station wagon with a pop-up tent trailer, 7 children, all headed to the national parks. Later trips included several cruises, and travel to many States, and countries.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband in 1984. Others that have passed include her brother, Lester (Jack) Nielson, and three of her children: Janice Heath, John Hollands, and Laurie Lee. 

A special thank-you to Barbara's daughter Lynette, for taking such good care of her. Her service helped Barbara to be able to stay in her own home. Also, thank-you to CNS nurses, and hospice. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Shoreline Ridge Ward at 300 Iowa Ave. A viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 AM preceding the funeral.  Interment at Ogden City Cemetery.
