Betty Ann Barney

October 16, 1953 — August 7, 2018

Betty Ann (Jones) Barney left this earthly life on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, while at her home in Ogden, Utah. She was born on October 16, 1953, to James William Jones Jr. and Lavon (Stephens) Jones.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her younger brother, Bob; and her older sister, Beverly. She attended Weber State University where she met her husband Jim Barney. She sang in the Institute choir and had a lovely voice.

Betty married Jim on May 17, 1975. She enjoyed camping in the mountains and traveling with her family. Betty loved reading books with her  children and kept up on their favorite books when they were older. She had a long career at the I.R.S. where she worked until she retired for medical reasons. Twelve years ago Betty received a life prolonging kidney donation from her oldest son, David. Since that time, many of her grandchildren were born.

Betty is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she enjoyed her callings with the Ogden 49th Ward. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature.

Betty is survived by her husband, Jim; brothers, James and Don; her sister, Bonnie; and her children: David, Mandi, Dan, Amy, Mike, Jamie, and Megan; along with nine grandchildren.

There will be a graveside memorial for Betty Barney at the Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah on Friday, August 10, 2018, at 10 a.m. Following the memorial and burial, there will be a luncheon at the Ogden 49th Ward.
