Boyd Charles Hanka

April 7, 1934 — August 30, 2009

After an extended battle with various ailments, Boyd Charles Hanka went home to his Lord on August 30, 2009. His beloved and caring wife Audrey was at his side. Boyd was born in Littleton, Colorado on April 7, 1934 to Raymond Charles Hanka and Ruby Thorman Hutchinson Hanka. He spent some of his childhood in Rye, Colorado and when the family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon, he continued his schooling there before joining the Air Force in February of 1952. Boyd served his country in Korea and Vietnam and completed his military career at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, AZ as a Master Sergeant when he retired March of 1972. Following his military retirement, he started his second career as a Civil Engineer with the US Bureau of Reclamation. He moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ where he met and married Audrey. Following his 14 years of service with the Bureau, Boyd and Audrey enjoyed working and playing during the summer tourist season in the West Yellowstone, MT area for 11 years and eventually settled in Ogden, Utah in 1995. Through out his life Boyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, square dancing and traveling with his wife. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 9401 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was an accomplished wood worker and utilized his carpentry skills as a volunteer at his church.

Boyd is survived by his wife of 32 years Audrey (Andrlik Trinko Hanka), his loving daughters Penny Hanka Coulter (David) of Phoenix, AZ, Erica Hanka Burian (Doug) of Surprise, AZ, Rhonda DeLozier of Phoenix, AZ and son Thad Trinko (Terry) of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Also his son-in-law Dean Dickemore of Harrisville, UT, brother Pete Roueche of Hershey, NE, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, two sisters Ida and Eloise, brother Floyd as well as his daughters Shasta Hancock Houck and Terry Ann Trinko Dickemore preceded him in death. Services will be Friday, September 4 at 11:00 am at Washington Heights Baptist Church in South Ogden. The family extends their deepest appreciation to Hospice for Utah for their professional and caring services to Boyd and Audrey.
