 Byron Lee Borup ll passed away peacefully at his home on October 17, 2023, at the
age of 76. He was born on May 27, in Emmett, Idaho to Byron Lee Borup and Ila
Lutz Nalder.
He was a remarkable man, full of wisdom and love for others. In his youth, he was
active in the scouting program and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He served in the
Chicago, Illinois mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After
returning home, he found the love of his life, Anna Morrison. They married in the
Salt Lake City Temple on September 5, 1969. Later were blessed with six children:
Byron Borup, Trycia Lino (Daniel), Cory Borup (Sarah), Christi Carpenter (Tray),
Jami Clopten (Deon), and Malissa Nelson (Anthony). He was blessed with 27
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Lee opened his heart and home to many
others.
Lee had a love for learning and achieved his PhD from Utah State University in
Curriculum and Instruction. He was a lifelong learner, earing degrees in History,
English, and Archeology. He had a passion for the study of world religions and
philosophy, authoring two books. Lee's passion for learning extended beyond his
own studies as he dedicated himself to teaching. He served as a teacher, college
professor, as a principal, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of his students and
anyone else who would listen.
Lee was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed the sport with family and many friends. He
loved the adventure of traveling and exploring with his wife and family. He was a
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints serving in many stake and
ward positions. He had a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and shared
it often.
Lee will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his
stepmother, Margaret C. Borup, and his siblings: Robin Nalder, Debbie Boyce, Brett
Borup, Cory H. Borup, Liana Borup, Kelly Giliham, and Shaun Westrup, and many
Nieces and Nephews. He is also survived by his children, their spouses, and his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
A memorial service to celebrate Lee's life will be held on October 26, 2023. The
location of the service will be at Syracuse West Stake building at 1600 S. 4500 W at
11 am.
The family would like to express their thanks to D. Carl Christensen NP, Ogden
Clinic, Intermountain Health Care and Hospice, and the many friends that expressed
their concern and sympathy to his family.
Lee's kind heart, wisdom, and love for others will forever be remembered by those
who had the privilege of knowing him.
