Carol Jean Walker

May 9, 1944 — May 14, 2025

North Ogden

My beautiful mother passed away after a very long and difficult battle with cancer and struggles with dementia.

Carol loved dogs and was “horse crazy” since she was a small child, she loved the movies, and all things shiny and fancy. She loved Ocean waves and golf course views. Her favorite color was Yellow. She was sensitive and tender-hearted and would cry watching movies or even commercials. If something really made her laugh, that too would bring her to tears. She made some great food, I miss her spaghetti sauce, burritos, baked beans, and caramel corn. She loved the smell of puppy breath and lilacs.

Carol was born in Ogden on May 9, 1944, to her loving parents Wesley D. Durand and Freda V. Wallis. She grew up in Roy and attended Weber High School. She married David William (Bill) Seeger July 14, 1962. They were a talented couple and built an amazing home in South Weber where they entertained their large group of friends. They always had such creative costumes for their annual Halloween parties. Carol and Bill had two children during their twelve years of marriage. Jody K. (John) Coy, and James D. Seeger or Jim / Jimmy, depending on how long you have known him. Their house and yard was worthy of a spread in Better Homes and Gardens. Carol had a flare for design, decorating, sewing and landscaping. If she could dream it up Bill could build it. They were both talented artists and craftsmen. Carol would sew Mommy and Me dresses for Christmas which sometimes included her nieces. Carol and Bill shared a collection of animals which included many pheasants, chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats and even a squirrel. During this chapter, Carol worked at the Internal Revenue Service Center. She competed in a beauty pageant and was named Queen of the Center in the early 70’s. Bill and Carol sadly divorced but remained good friends.

Carol moved back to Roy Utah into a new townhouse with Jody and Jimmy. It was so modern and cute, it was like a Barbie Dream House. Carol began working at Hill Air Force Base. She met LaMoine H. Walker, and they were married August 1, 1976, in Carmel California. Together, with his boys, Rick and Chad Walker, and her kids they all moved down the street from Carol’s townhouse into another amazing new home. Carol was inspired by the Coast of California and so decorated their new basement with a nautical theme. With new friends and old, they entertained poolside at their Roy residence. They later hosted Jody and John’s beautiful wedding there.

Carol and LaMoine moved and built other beautiful homes in Ogden, Syracuse, and Pleasant View. They became grandparents to Alex J. (Jena) Coy, Amanda K. Coy, Skyler Walker, and Diana Walker. They sadly never got to meet their new great granddaughter, Kapri Skye.

They shared many beloved poodles, a wheaten terrier, and Shi tzus, several named Tootsie. Carol enjoyed owning and loving a horse again as an adult. She and a longtime friend rode their horses every, “good weather,” Sunday. Carol has said, “Not in church but NEVER closer to God than riding on a good day in the mountains.” She lost both her beautiful horse and her incredible friend.

Carol and LaMoine loved to travel to Carmel California to visit family. They enjoyed many cruises, and they traveled to every US state. LaMoine picked Carol up the day she retired from Hill Air Force Base, and they began RV living. They enjoyed spending the winter months in Las Vegas, and St. George. They enjoyed St. George so much they decided to purchase a home there as well.

Carol and LaMoine lived back and forth right up until her cancer diagnosis. They went to St. George after her surgeries and treatments were completed. Then came back to Pleasant View during their COVID isolation, but as soon as she was able, she headed back to St. George. Unfortunately, cancer returned once again, along with her mental decline. This forced them to sell their St. George home. It was a sad time for Carol; her fear for her physical and mental health, and LaMoine was dealing with declining health and mobility.

Carol lost LaMoine in 2023. She is survived by her furry companions Mitzi and Tootsie, her “Sweet” daughter and son in law John. She adored John for all his help and loving care. Her son, Her stepson and his wife Kristin Walker, her grandchildren and her big brother Wendell D. (Elaine) Durand.

At Carol’s request there will not be a formal service, so this is my tribute.

Happy Trails Mom, I love you and I will miss you,
