Charles Richard Pitt

NO. OGDEN-Charles Richard Pitt passed away Monday, June 29, 2009. He was born March 29, 1931 in Ogden, Utah to Charles Milton and Winifred Williams Pitt.

He spent his early years in Mountain Green, it is the valley he loved all his life. When he was young he could ride a horse all around the valley with very few fences. He loved horses and dogs and had a special place in his heart for all animals. He had many pets, and raised and cared for various livestock throughout his life. In his youth, he worked at Farmer's Grain in West Ogden, where he swept grain in the elevators, drove trucks and fed livestock.

He married Sheila Alette Bigley in Salt Lake City May 14, 1960. They were later divorced. He married Merry Carole Tueller June 11, 1969 in Smithfield, Utah. This marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

He graduated from Weber High School in 1949. He served in the US Air Force, Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He returned to school at Weber State College earning his Associate's degree, then attended Utah State University earning a Bachelor's degree in accounting.

Upon graduating from college, and after some adventurous years with the Southern Pacific Railroad, he began his career as an accountant. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service on technical cases retiring after thirty-three years as an analyst. After retirement from IRS, he helped open the Ogden office of Price Waterhouse before finally settling down and enjoying more time with his family.

He is a member of the LDS church. He served in many callings over the years. He especially enjoyed the friendships of the North Ogden 17th Ward and the High Priest group.

He is survived by his wife, Merry Carole, his sister, Marilyn Coy Giles, two sons; Richard Scott (Gloria) Pitt, and Michael Ray (Jennifer) Pitt; two daughters, Teri Lyn (Jason) Obray and Brittany Ann (Rafael) Ramirez, and ten wonderful grandchildren, Forrest, Sarah, Heather, Erin, Rachel, Leah, Mckenna, Kolton, Hannah and Landon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred Elaine Pitt Pellegrini.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the University of Utah Dialysis/C.N.S.and their Hospice staff.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at No. Ogden 17th Ward, 386 E. Elberta Dr. No. Ogden, UT. A viewing will be held Sunday, July 5th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.at Lindquist North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be at Smithfield Cemetery, Smithfield, Utah.
