Claudia Rae Murdock

February 24, 1954 — March 25, 2023

Claudia Rae Murdock, 69 of Smithfield, UT passed away surrounded by her loved ones on March 25th, 2023, from Acute Renal Failure. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Claudia was born on February 24th, 1954, to Claude William and Mary Belle Staten in Grants Pass, OR, where she grew up as one of twelve children.

In February of 1973, she met her sweetheart Roger Bradley Murdock they were Married and Sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 18, 1975, going on to have 7 children, Julie, Alesha, Roger Bradley, Jared, Katie, Emily, and Brandon. She became a military wife of 25 years, traveling alongside her companion throughout the US and overseas, until Utah became home.

Claudia dedicated her life to being a fierce and loving mother. She was also passionate about helping others and supporting them through the many chapters of their lives. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others, giving her time and services to anyone that she could. She was valiant, righteous and had a spirit of light. 

Claudia enjoyed sewing, a talent passed down by her mother and generations before. She would sew anything from casual clothing to formal bridesmaids’ dresses. When she wasn’t filling her home with sunshine and kindness, or helping someone in need, she could be found in her kitchen cooking or baking. In her younger years she spent time planting beautiful flowers in her garden and raising her beloved children. Whether it was camping, a family dinner, or a vacation on the beach, she treasured spending time with her family and everyone that she loved.

 Claudia loved her savior and attending the Temple often. She leaves behind a legacy of love, unwavering faith, service, and devotion for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she was an active and proud member throughout her life until the day of her passing.

Claudia was predeceased by her parents: Claude and Mary Staten, her siblings, Bill, Marvin, Leon and Dan Staten and her granddaughter: Michelle Murdock. She is survived by her children: Julie (Jared) Nelson, Alesha Gallegos, Roger Bradley (Misty) Murdock, Jared (Brittney) Murdock, Katie Murdock, Emily Murdock, and Brandon (Mackenzie Buist) Murdock, 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held March 31st, 2023, at the Smithfield Stake Center, 155 West 400 North, Smithfield UT 84335, from 11:00am–12:00pm. A viewing/visitation will be held prior to the funeral service, from 9:00am–10:45am. Interment will be at the Smithfield City Cemetery, 300 East Center Street, Smithfield UT, 84335.
