Daniel Lizza

When stories stop abruptly…the world bends differently.…and grips our hearts with sadness, suddenly stopping us in life's tracks.  Our hearts were gripped with a deep sadness when Dan's  life stopped. We take the time to acknowledge the best he offered. We love him. We are blessed how much he touched all of our hearts in his own unique and beautiful way. We celebrate his wonderful life.

Daniel Lizza, 37 years old, was born October 24, 1982 in Ogden to his loving parents,  Dennis and Donna (Leonardi) Lizza. He continually danced fun steps with his sisters Karlee (Scott) Milligan and Michelle (Ryan) Dunham and his brothers Drew (Tiffany) Lizza  and Christopher Lizza - many fun dance partners.

Dan loved his family that he created with Billie Perkes, whom he married on July 25, 2009.  He especially had a very strong dedication and love towards his young daughters, his most special garden and sparks of Light - step-daughter Oaklie, Paislie and Kelsie.  He loved his children, never missing an opportunity to be with them. He also was a loving Uncle to Tristen, Keaton, Cody, and Max Milligan, Hannah, Rebekah, and Izabellah, Roper, Wyatt, Laci, Lexie and Matthew. They remember him as always being present and so much fun for their birthdays.

Dan clearly had his own version of how to live life and he did it his way.  He had a lot of fun teaching his children and his nieces and nephews how to ride horses like champions and to understand these animals he loved.  Most generously he taught them how to shoot and hunt and even track animals like a pro, for the fun of it. He taught them how to fish and would share his ice fishing techniques, such as how to use small bait for the best catch. He knew all of the little tricks.  Even in challenging times, Dan would take the time to play and enjoy his ”Littles” from jumping on a trampoline to rolling in the grass to running with the sheep to playing with the ducks to chasing the chickens in every direction.

An outdoorsy individualist, also known as Dan, Daniel, Danny, Low, Dano, Hoss, he followed his own “hoof beat” -  his life was an open book along his country-boy’s journey.    Recently he was a heavy equipment operator at Sunroc Construction.   He had many construction and heavy equipment skills, and those of a butcher and welder.   He also worked as a meat cutter at Champion Meats Butcher Shop. Most weekends in the summertime Dan would be found helping friends cut and bale hay. Very generously, he would help local farmers brand their horses and cattle. When the rodeo came to town, Dan would be found in the chutes, helping out with guiding the horses. Every cowboy there knew him and loved him being around.  He competed in 4H in the sheep division and was an FFA member, loving every moment. He would spend time at the farm with his Grandpa, who often called him “Little Buddy” and would help Uncle John birthing lambs every opportunity he could. He loved his special connection to the land, animals and to his community.

It was easy for Dan to offer help and be of use to friends, passers-by  or strangers - it didn’t matter who, as he had the most kind bone in his heart for everyone he brushed up against.  He quickly would assist friends to shingle a roof, lay cement, or assist on a project. If somebody was doing something, he was part of it. He would give them the shirt off his back if needed.  It is said that Dan  could stop at any small town in Utah and someone would come out and greet him. His reach was far and wide. He was well known and deeply loved.

Dan was a stream that had run it’s coarse too early yet he walked it as best he could. He gave everything he had with his special way of doing things. He would generously offer creative options to solve a problem or make a friend's life better.  The community loved him.

May you fly with the Eagles Dan, and know there was a cherished richness to your life that touched all of us in very special ways. You are a special garden for all of us and you will be remembered and toasted as our son, brother, father, uncle, nephew and friend forever.  You made the world a better place.

Please post on the Tribute Wall, adding pictures and words, celebrating Daniel and comforting us all.

My most sincere condolences Dennis, Donna, Chris, Michelle, Karlee, & Andrew & to all Danny's family & friends.
Donna was there when I had my son. Danny babysat my son from time to time. It wasn't until this weekend that I found out my son & Danny shared the same birthday.
One favorite memory, it's not possible. There were just too many.
Lots of love, hugs, & healing vibes going out to all of you.

I used to run in to Danny quite often and don't remember ever seeing him without one of his kids or a niece or nephew... He was sooooo very proud of his family!! I wish there was a way to take away this horrible pain your family is going through right now... I know it all too well .. You now have a very special guardian angel watching over your family!! He loved his family more than anything (((HUGS!))) From the Lively Family
