David Lee Bissegger

February 28, 1941 — May 2, 2026

Listen to Obituary

David Bissegger, 85, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Tremonton, Utah. Born February 28, 1941, in Logan to Keith and Marcella Mae Kent Bissegger, David was raised on the farms and ranches near Plymouth. A true cowboy at heart, he spent his life loving the outdoors, from camping and fishing to working with horses and cattle. Though his dream of running a large-scale ranch remained a personal passion rather than a profession, he carried that rugged, independent spirit through every aspect of his life.

On March 13, 1970, David married Bonnie Ray Nelson in Wyoming, beginning a journey together that lasted over 50 years until her passing in 2024.

During the Vietnam War, David served in the U.S. Army, where his exceptional skill as a marksman led him to a post in Texas as a sharpshooter trainer for departing troops.

David dedicated many years to the Box Elder School District maintenance department. He was a familiar face throughout Box Elder County, traveling to every school to keep the plumbing and repairs in order. David was a man of distinct character—known by his family for a legendary stubborn streak, but knew how to turn on the charm when needed.

He is survived by his daughter Terri (John) Mann; three granddaughters Heather (Miles) McNair, Shelby (Radford) Asay, and Justine (Skyler) Shaffer; ten great-grandchildren, and one brother, Lonnie.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Bonnie; and three brothers.

A very special thank you to Dr. John Markeson, Melinda and the staff with Renew Hopsice for the care they give to my dad.

In keeping with David’s straightforward nature and his final wishes, no formal services will be held.
