On a beautiful spring evening on April 24th, Diann Reeder Lore passed away peacefully in her childhood home, surrounded by family, after a very courageous battle with brain cancer. She was sixty-two years old.
Diann was born on July 20, 1962, to Lynn and Geraldine Reeder in Brigham City, Utah. She spent most of her growing-up years in Honeyville, Utah. As a child, Diann was full of energy, wonder, and just a little mischief. Her favorite activities included being outdoors, playing with her siblings, camping with her family at Clear Creek, picking peaches, swimming, and running. As a teenager, she dreamed of being an actress and starred in a play. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a wife and mother, and help and work with children for a career. She grew into a beautiful, kind-hearted, strong, faithful, fun-loving woman.
In 1981, she met and married Garry Kelley. They had four children: Joshua, Shaun (Holly), Jessica (Clay Sagers), and Amy (Paul Jensen); they later divorced. Diann was determined to earn a college degree as a young single mother. She attended Utah State University, earning a bachelor's in Human and Child Development and later a teaching certificate. She enjoyed a career spanning many years, teaching preschool through high school and working in related fields while fulfilling her dream of helping many children.
On July 22, 1996, she was sealed to David Edward Lore for all time and eternity in the Bountiful Utah Temple. Dave also had four children: Shaunna (Zack Ludlow), Krystal (Lance Bice), Jessica (Mathew Ringler), and David (Mary Ann). They welcomed two more children, Benjamin (Jessica) and Rebekah. Dave and Diann shared a love for the gospel, family, and traveling; they created many wonderful memories with their children and grandchildren.
Diann loved her faith and the temple and wanted to share that love with her children. Every time she saw a temple while driving with them, she would burst into song, singing, "I love to see the temple; I'm going there someday." She attended the temple as often as possible. She had a strong testimony of the covenants made there and the power and peace she experienced from going to the House of the Lord. She served faithfully and willingly in many church callings throughout her life.
She had a gift for healing and serving, rushing to the aid of her family and friends when they were in need, becoming a great blessing to many. Just days before she discovered she had cancer, she was helping some new friends clean their house despite not feeling well.
Both Diann and David found great joy in their time together in Guam. They worked in the temple, served a mission, and both shared a great love for their church family members. While there, Diann received a certificate for volunteering for the USO for over 1,000 hours. She found joy and peace in the beautiful surroundings, enjoying morning walks and swimming in the ocean.
Diann loves her family very much. She cherished family get-togethers and made a great effort to attend them. She has a special place in her heart for her grandchildren; her face always lit up when they entered the room. Her grandchildren will treasure their memories of her, particularly the time spent at cousin camp at The Ranch, one of her favorite places.
Her mother, Geraldine, her younger sister, Ilene, and three grandchildren, Carter, Kayla, and Kayden, preceded her in death. Surviving her are her husband and best friend, David; her 10 children; 33 grandchildren; her father, Lynn Reeder; and seven siblings: Ronnie (Lisa), Jill (Sam), Daniel (Becky), CarieSue (Marty), Mark, Benjamin, and Ted.
The family would like to thank all those family and friends who enveloped Diann and her family with love and prayers during this last month. Many loving hands and hearts constantly surrounded her. A special thank you to Alisha, a hospice nurse who helped her and her family tremendously during this difficult time.
The family invites all who knew and loved Diann to join them in celebrating her life and legacy.
