Donald Mark Cordingly

April 11, 1961 — May 9, 2025

Brigham City

Donald Mark Cordingly passed away in his home in Brigham City on Friday May 9, 2025.

Mark was born on April 11, 1961, in Ogden, Utah to Donald Carl Cordingly and Barbara Ellen Johns. He was the third of four children. He spent much of his youth hunting, fishing, camping in the Uintah mountains and horseback riding. It was these types of activities that would lead to what would be Mark’s lifelong love and passion for the outdoors.

Upon graduating from Roy High School, Mark went to work at Western Zirconium/Westinghouse where he would spend the better half of his working career. Eventually “growing tired of walking through the same doors everyday” Mark would leave Western Zirconium to become a truck driver. Mark would later say that becoming a truck driver provided him with a sense of freedom at work that his previous job did not provide. This freedom he spoke of probably had a lot to do with having a career that didn’t require him to be in a building everyday.

Throughout his life Mark would be married four times. Through is first marriage to Teresa Combs he had his first child, Titus. Mark’s second marriage was to Barbara Garcia where Cody and Danielle, his second and third children were born. Later in life Mark would meet Jolynn “Jodi” Bessinger and after multiple years together they would be married in 1997. After, Jodi’s untimely and unexpected death in 2000, Mark would spend a number of years single but in 2011 he met Stacie Metzler and would end up spending the rest of his life with her. Through Stacie, Mark would gain two step children, Shaina and Tyler, who he would love as his own.

Mark endured a lot in his life, and he was not a man to express much outward affection and emotion but one thing is for sure, he loved ALL of his family with everything he knew.

As mentioned, Mark was a prolific outdoorsman. He loved to engage in just about every activity that would allow time to be out in nature hunting, fishing, camping…. you name it, he loved it. It is also worth mentioning that he excelled in most everything he did.

Mark loved to hunt, and he was quite successful at it. Throughout his life, it didn’t matter what he was hunting, he always seemed to end up with some type of trophy. He would probably say the highlight of his hunting career was when he shot an enormous bull moose and a large buck pronghorn antelope in the same year. Mark was also a brilliant taxidermist. So, anything he killed would most likely end up on display in his living room.

Another thing Mark loved to do is camp. From a very young age and throughout his life, he would spend countless days camping, and this is where he developed a deep love and connection to the Uintah mountains. For Mark, when it comes to camping, the more remote and isolated from civilization the better.

Most who knew Mark would probably suspect that he had high octane fuel running through his veins. He LOVED anything fast and loud. Whether it be a snowmobile, an ATV, a 1969 Chevy Chevelle, or an absurdly large and lifted Chevy truck….Mark was all about it. He seemed to always need high horsepower in his life.

Mark also loved animals. He had a deep love and respect for wild animals but most of all he loved his pets. Throughout his life he would own many. Most recently, developing a strong love and connection to his cats.

Mark is survived by his wife Stacie along with stepchildren Shaina L. Metzler and Tyler J. Metzler, his sister Kathy (Jeff) McGilton, sister Debbie (Lonnie) Kimball, his son Titus (Jessica) Cordingly, son Cody (Loren) Cordingly, daughter Danielle (Tyler) Tatton, second wife Barbara Garcia Cordingly, 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Barbara, brother Brett, third wife Jodi, and first wife Teresa.
