Donna Darlene Pence, nee Denton
January 24, 1956 - July 10, 2023
Our beloved and adored wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend
left us suddenly and unexpectedly due to a serious health issue. She
will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved her.
She was born on the 24th of January 1956 in Charleston, SC to George
and Barbara Denton, nee Torrance, both who preceded her in death.
Donna had one younger brother, Peter and he also preceded her in
death. She has a younger sister, Jolene, 54, who lives in Asheland MS
near her own families.
Donna grew up in a U.S. Navy family, living several locations and
attending many schools. She lived in Providence RI, Pawtucket RI,
Norfolk VA, Jacksonville, FL, Key West FL and graduated from Frayser
High school in Memphis TN.
Shortly after graduating, she decided to start her professional life
and enlisted in the United States Air Force to honorably serve her
country as a 702x0b Clerk/Typist with the 1st Bomb Wing (SAC)
Carswell AFB TX, the 6th Strategic Wing (SAC) Eielson AFB AK and
388th Fighter Wing (ACC) Hill AFB UT. She attained the rank of Staff
Sergent and served 8 years. After separating, Donna became a public
servant and worked for the federal government for another 14 years.
Somehow during all that she made time to start her own family. She
married her best friend and love of her life Danny on July 3rd, 1980
at Tarrant County Courthouse with many friends attending. Right after
the ceremony, she swiftly renamed her new spouse to "Dan", thinking
that sounded more mature. Ok, sounded good to me.
Though having a daughter just wasn't in the cards, she did have three
handsome sons: Jason 47, Justin 41 and Jarrod 40. Later she gained a
wonderful daughter in law, Kayleen 38 (Justin) and an incredible near
daughter in law Jennifer (Jarrod).
Her most precious treasures were her grandchildren who she loved
spending time with and cooking for and baking cakes with: Gabriel 20,
Gracie 16, Kori 13, Kaden 20, Logan 16, Chance 12, Cambria 17
To close this now,
I want to thank my beautiful Darlene (Donna) for being the most
wonderful loyal and loving woman I could have ever been so lucky to
find. For 43 years we have loved each other and helped each other
through great times and difficult times. We were one soul with our
own distinct halves. My heart is broken. I love you and I miss you so
much!
There will be no public service. Donna's cremains will be returned
home until such time that she and I will be memorialized and entombed
together.
