It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Eleanor Murriel (‘Brownie’)
Courtney Bush on May 5, 2023, in North Ogden, Utah.
She was born February 19, 1927, in Howard, Kansas, the second of eleven children of
Ward Dexter Courtney and Cora Muriel McIlvain Courtney.
On March 6, 1945, she married Roger Earl Bush of Ogden, Utah and over the next 18
years they had five sons: Roger Jr., Richard Ward, Daniel Robert, Randy Lee, and Ronnie Dee. In
addition to Ogden, they made their home in many places in the West: Eagle River, Alaska, the
towns of Glenns Ferry, Malad, and Salmon, Idaho, and West Point, Utah where they settled in
1978 and lived until Roger’s passing in 2016. Later, she moved to North Ogden into the home of
her son Danny where she spent her remaining days.
She had been a business owner, running both a beauty salon and an upholstery shop for
many years, but she was best known as Grandma. Children brought her much joy, and she was
almost always at the center of a swirling melee of grandchildren or great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roger; parents Ward and Muriel; siblings
Ester, Evelyn, Carl, Don, Linda, Lois, Ivan, and Sue; sons Randy, Ronnie, and Richard; two
grandchildren, Ronnie Paul and Brittany Liane; and one great-grandson, Ryan Scott.
She is survived by her sister Dorothy, brother Jimmy, two sons, Roger Jr. (Sharri) and
Danny, eleven grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great
grandchildren, and four great-great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 10 from 1 PM until 4 PM at the Grandview
Acres community clubhouse, 3796 Quincy Avenue, Ogden Utah.
