Gerald Duane Burgher

December 5, 1940 — April 14, 2024

Gerald Duane Burgher passed away peacefully at Auberge Memory Care in Ogden, Utah on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Gary was born on December 5, 1940, to Edna and Lyle Burgher in Redding, Iowa.

Gary married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Dukes, in 1961 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern in Maryville, Missouri in 1963. Gary and Dorothy had four children to which he shared his love of hunting, fishing, and guns.

He was well known for his in-depth knowledge and passion for competitive gun shooting. The family was close and bonded around this sport, helping to put together competitive shooting events as well as traveling the country to compete in them. His two sons gained much notoriety for their talent and skills fostered by their dad.

Gary was a kind and compassionate man, who was always ready to help anyone in need, and was especially happy to help others learn and grow. He spent countless hours in retirement volunteering at local gun ranges to teach and promote gun safety.

Gary is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his sons, Eugene Burgher of Grand Junction, Colorado and Donald Burgher of Ogden, Utah; daughters, Brenda Butchko (Rick Sackse) of Grand Junction and Jenifer Mazza (Frank Mazza Sr.); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
