Gloria Ann Ropelato

Our beloved Gloria passed away August 4th due to complications from Alzheimer’s. Born to parents George and Elsie Maki of Superior, Wyoming. Gloria loved and achieved a lot in high school. She was a cheerleader, pep club President, class President for 2 years, a state FHA officer, member of the school band, choir member, drama club, and school paper editor all earning her a four-year scholarship to the University of Wyoming where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree of Education in Mathematics and English.

After teaching for two years in Kemmerer, Wyoming, she moved to Ogden to teach at Ben Lomond High School where she remained teaching for 33 more years. While teaching at Ben Lomond High School, she was one of the girls’ tennis team coaches. She taught night school mathematics for the Veterans Administration at Weber State College while attending summer classes at Weber State College and Utah State University earning her Master’s degree in education. After retiring from teaching, she worked another 17 years for the IRS in Ogden.

In 1988, she started dating the love of her life, Randy Ropelato. Gloria and Randy married in November 1993 where she joined him and his two children from a prior marriage for an adventure of 31 years. Gloria embraced Randy’s love for antique cars and the outdoors. She loved going to the cabin they built together in Bear Lake, family and friends, her adopted dog Tuffy, traveling, tennis, snow skiing, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, boating, and Harley rides with her husband. She enjoyed their antique cars and the numerous car clubs they belonged to with their many great friends.
