Ismael “Sonny” Flores, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, at the age of 91. Sonny was born August 13, 1933, to Pedro Flores and Herminia Ramirez in San Antonio, Texas. Sonny lived a life rich in service, love, and joy.

Sonny proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, embodying the courage and dedication that defined his character.

On June 26, 1969, he married the love of his life, Bernice E. Eyre Walton, and together they built a life filled with love and family. Sonny and Bernice shared many ventures together, including working at Simmons in Lansing, Illinois, owning Star Real Estate Brokerage in San Antonio, Texas, and later running Salms Saloon in New Braunfels, Texas. After many years in San Antonio, they moved to Roy, Utah, to be closer to family.

Sonny was a man of many passions. He found joy in playing poker with friends, sometimes for several hours and days, engaging in lively games of pool, making clocks, and enjoying the thrill of gambling. His warm smile and generous spirit made him a beloved figure among those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife Bernice, his mother Herminia, his sister Herminia "Mini" Morales Pineda, his brother Ben "Speedy" Morales, stepson Joseph Walton, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Sonny is survived by his two daughters, Juanita Beverly of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Rosalinda Flores of Indianapolis, Indiana; stepchildren John (LuJeanne) Walton of Sunset, Utah: Teri (Mike) Reel of West Point, Utah; Dennis (Barbara) Walton of Roy, Utah; 13-grandchildren, 32-great grandchildren, 22-great great grandchildren.

A private family service will be held to honor Sonny’s life and legacy.

Sonny’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, cherished for his kindness, laughter, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
