Jacqueline Warr Jessop
Jacqueline was born April 25, 1947 in Berkley, California to Jack Warr and Opal Nelson Warr. Later on her parents divorced. Jack was the manager of the Montgomery Ward Store in SLC, Utah. He married Marion Willoughby. This gave Jackie 3 step siblings: Dayle, Karl, and Robin. They later had a son, Phillip, he was her little brother. Opal married Herb Anderson, who was an outstanding athlete on the football team at the University of Utah.
Jackie and her mother moved to Boise, Idaho her Senior year of H.S. After graduation, she attended a Junior college in the State of Washington where she excelled in training as an executive secretary. She took great pride in becoming the fastest outstanding student in shorthand!
After graduation she returned to Boise and took a major position with The New York Life Insurance Company, where she earned enough money to support herself. She saved up enough to support herself as a missionary in Paris, France for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was thrilled with her call and made many life-long friends. She loved the food, the language, the history, the art, but most of all the people.
After her mission she went Brigham Young University where she was hired as an Executive Secretary in the Business Office of the Wilkinson Center (the student union building.) Her boss introduced her to his friend, Terry Jessop who was an executive at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where he supervised the Student Body Officers, taught the International Ballroom Dance Team and coordinated their performing tours to Europe.
Truly it was a long distance relationship but when he visited Provo he introduced Jackie to his sister, DeeAnn Jessop & her fiancee, Steven Fisher. They shared many adventures and activities together. Jackie and Terry found they shared common interests: favorite colors black and yellow, they were both looking to marry returned missionaries, they loved French & Italian foods, they loved to play games, they were friendly and loved to dance. And most of all they both loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, a great foundation for a life together. Terry proposed to Jackie in Sign Language in the parking lot of the Provo Temple and she accepted in Sign Language they discussed plans with DeeAnn and Steven. All agreed to have a double wedding! They were married December 27, 1974 in the Salt Lake Temple. DeeAnn sewed their wedding dresses and bridesmaid, and mothers dresses. They had four receptions in Clearfield, Utah, Torrance, California, (and honeymooned a night in Ensenada, Mexico) Provo, Utah and Rexburg, Idaho. It was an exciting time with friends and family.
Their first home was only three houses north of the Provo Temple and the lights from the Temple were so bright they could read their scriptures in bed. While teaching at BYU a position as the Director of Continuing Education at Dixie College opened up, so they moved to St. George, Utah. Dixie College had a huge fundraising event for the Ballroom Dance Team, selling watermelons. Jackie being pregnant had a very nice bump and was voted the best salesperson. She told the people what great melons they were then proceeded to show off her bump. They sold 7 tons of watermelons and raised enough funds for the new programs!
They were totally excited when their first son, Timothy Wayne Jessop was born November 25, 1975 in the new Dixie Medical Center. Their home was blessed with a good and kind baby boy! Grandma Opal was going to come to help with “Tim” but was hurt in a bus accident roll over and passed away a little later.
Jackie and Terry later moved back to Provo, Utah. They purchased the James Fielding Dunn Mansion at 314 W. 400 S. There Jackie was called to serve in the Relief Society Presidency and Terry as the Elders Quorum President. She loved being able to fellowship and reactivate many members of the ward.
Their second son, Scott-Jamin Jessop was born October 29, 1977 in Provo, Utah and brought great joy into their lives. His curly red hair was a foreshadowing of the vibrant personality he would bring into the family!
When “Tim” was about 7 years old, he was playing across the street and Jackie called him to come back home. Tim was obedient and came a running. He was hit by a speeding drunk driver! There was no stop sign even though they had been advocating for the city to install one! When the car was lifted off of his tiny body the injuries were extensive! There were 21 specialists that worked frantically to save his life! When the accident happened they didn’t know where Scott-Jamin was. They searched and found him kneeling in a closet offering a prayer to God for his brother! (A little Child shall lead them!) There were countless prayers of friends and family that produced a miracle for our family! Tim’s mode of transportation for many months was a little red wagon.
The stresses of that terrible accident resulted in their divorce. But, Jackie and Terry continued to care for and love their boys!
Jackie met a gentleman from Canada, Blaine Wynder, at one of the L.D.S. church dances. They married and settled just off of Center Street in Orem, Utah. They enjoyed the outdoors and nature. Plus they actively participated in The Mountain Man Rendezvous , pitching tepees and preparing delicious meals in the Dutch Ovens. They also continued to enjoy dancing!
Jackie was famous for making her Lemon, Pumpkin and French Chocolate Silk Pies! They were enjoyed by all us at our family parties.
Jackie worked for the Utah County Department of Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Center from 1999 to 2015. She loved helping those that were struggling to regain their sobriety. She loved being healthy and even helped Blaine, who was a massage therapist, work on massaging the runners after the race in the Utah Senior Games in St. George.
Blaine and Jackie enjoyed celebrating holidays and parties with the Jessop Family. But most of all she cherished her memories with her sons and her beloved cats: Sky and Belle. After Jackie and Blaine divorced and they sold the home in Orem, she lived in several assisted living centers.
Terry opened his home in Clearfield so that Jackie could enjoy a better life. Terry and Jackie remarried December 8, 2022 in the Bountiful Temple on the Anniversary date of Terry’s parents. She loved to listen to music, watch “Touched By an Angel”, and play games. She also enjoyed Terry’s home cooked meals and she enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Chuck and Becca Smith helped Jackie on a regular basis. Becca and Jackie would go on mile walks three times a day. Often including walking her dog, Kiya. Jackie loved all animals, but especially her puppies Roma & Kiya! Kiya was a comfort and blessing to Jackie. She loved to snuggle and pet her.
The family would like to thank The Inspiration Hospice Staff for their kind, compassionate service during the last days of her life!
