John Rose Cheney, born on October 12, 1966, in Brigham City, Utah, passed away on August 13, 2025, in his hometown. A devoted son, brother, and uncle, John touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to family.
John was an alumnus of Box Elder High School, where he excelled academically, consistently earning straight A's throughout his studies. Beyond his academic accomplishments, he was an avid lover of the outdoors, nurturing a deep appreciation for nature that he shared with his family. He reveled in creating cherished memories, mentoring his siblings in outdoor activities, teaching them how to ride bikes, climb trees, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life that children cherish. His perfectionist nature ensured that every family outing was meticulously planned, resulting in countless joyous experiences.
John earned a reputation for being exceptionally kind to staff and for maintaining a happy and pleasant demeanor with Bear River Mental Health and Monument Care Center, making him a beloved figure with those around him.
Faith played a significant role in John's life as he was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved being a boy scout and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among his peers.
John is survived by his parents, Michael Andersen Cheney and Lana Ramos, his siblings: Monika Dee Richards, Jacob Rose Cheney, Cindy Ann (Mark) Muller, Jared Rose (Stacie) Cheney, Joseph Rose (Samantha) Cheney, and James Rose (Jennifer) Cheney, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember him for his love, guidance, and the joy he brought into their lives.
As we remember John Rose Cheney, we celebrate a life rich in love, laughter, and service to others. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege to know him.
