With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, (Juan) John G. Castillo, Sr. He was born March 12, 1926, in Tampico, Tamps Mexico – a son of Pedro Castillo and Lazara Castillo Soto. In 1949 he made the journey from Mexico to Ogden, Utah. The following year he started his career with the Southern Pacific Railroad.
On November 16, 1951, he married the love of his life, Esperanza M. Hernandez at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the Benito Juarez Society, the Knights of Columbus, and was also an usher for many years. His hobbies included gardening, dancing, bowling, and carpentry. Juan never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He retired from the South Pacific RR in 1991 after 42 years of service.
He later moved to Texas in 2001, following the death of his beloved wife, Esperanza.
