How does one begin the final words that announce a loved one has passed? How do you sum up someone’s life in just a few short paragraphs? Juvy lived a big life, and capturing it all feels nearly impossible—but we will do our best.
Juvy left this world on Thursday, December 18, 2025. He was born on June 4, 1990, in Sacramento, California, to Dorothy Shawnee Moore and Juvenal Rodriguez Sonato. He spent the majority of his younger years in Humboldt County, where he attended Arcata High School. While he didn’t love school, he deeply enjoyed playing football. He loved the game so much that even after breaking both legs, he returned to the field once he was healed.
Not long after graduating high school, Juvy served a two-year church mission in Nashville, Tennessee. He always spoke fondly of his mission and loved sharing stories about the incredible people he met. During that time, he experienced heartbreak when his beloved Grandpa passed away. His Grandpa was his best friend, and knowing they are now reunited in heaven brings comfort and peace to those left behind.
After returning home from his mission, Juvy made the quick decision to move to Utah County, where he lived with the Bower family. They took wonderful care of him and helped him begin building his life. While working a variety of jobs, Juvy decided to try online dating—a decision that would change everything. That journey led him to Trisha, who was living in Washington State. After six months of talking, they finally met in person. Once Juvy had her close, he was completely and utterly in love. He pursued her wholeheartedly, and Trisha had no chance—she fell deeply in love, and just six months later, they were married.
Juvy and Trisha shared big dreams. Trisha dreamed of owning her own business, and Juvy dreamed of giving her everything she ever wanted. Together, they were the perfect team. As they worked toward opening their business, Juvy held several jobs to support their growing dream. Eventually, the business became so successful that he was able to work alongside Trisha full-time, truly living the life they envisioned.
Somehow, amid all the hard work, they also found time to grow their family. Bentley joined them in 2016, followed by Royce in 2018, completing their family. With his children, Juvy’s dreams grew even bigger—his greatest desire was to give his family the most incredible life possible.
Juvy and Trisha worked hard, but they played just as hard. They loved to travel and took their kids as many places as they could, creating beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. While Juvy loved being a husband, being a papa was truly in his blood. He was his children’s biggest cheerleader, always bragging about their accomplishments and knowing exactly how to calm their fears. He was the very best papa they could have ever had.
Even while running a business, traveling, and caring for his family, Juvy always found time to serve others. He loved making connections, and his family knew they’d often be waiting in the car while he talked with someone new. Simply meeting people wasn’t enough—Juvy turned strangers into friends. He knew everyone, checked in often, and showed up whenever help was needed. No matter how tired he was, he would drop everything for family or friends. His love of service is a defining part of the legacy he leaves behind—a life devoted to his wife, children, family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
People energized Juvy, and he was always eager for new experiences. Recently, he began pursuing duck hunting, excitedly earning his hunting license and gathering gear. He was especially proud of his new hunting equipment, sending photos to friends and family and joking about being camouflaged against his wood-grain floor. Juvy loved making jokes and making people laugh. For those closest to him, it often resulted in eye rolls—but we all secretly loved them. Those jokes will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife: Trisha; children: Bentley and Royce; his mother, Dorothy Sonato, and stepfather, Miguel Sonato; his father: Juvenal Sonato; siblings: Roxanne Gillan, Daniel Maness, Ruby Collins, Naomi Guerrero, Maria Smittenaar, Miguel Sonato, and Antonio Sonato; his nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Ruby and Bob Moore, along with many other family members, and we imagine they are having quite the reunion in heaven.
Above all else, Juvy will be remembered for his boundless love, his loyalty to family, his big smile, and his gift for bringing people together. His life was a testament to friendship, hard work, and living fully, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
