Karen Ann Dabling Estel
November 29, 1957 ~ July 29, 2025
Karen Ann Dabling Estel, age 67, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Ogden, Utah, following a stroke and a courageous battle with ongoing health issues, including cancer.
Born on November 29, 1957, in Jerome, Idaho to Sheldon L. and Dorothy Baker Callister, Karen lived a life defined by unconditional love, compassion, and warmth. She was the kind of person who welcomed everyone into her home and her heart—always non-judgmental and kind, with a gentle presence that made people feel truly seen and loved.
Karen was first married to Michael Simonsen, and together they had two children, Brenda Lee and Jeremy Michael. She later married Frank Tooker and welcomed another daughter, Elisha Rae Tooker. While working at Weber Human Services, Karen met the love of her life, Mitchell Kirk Dabling. After his passing, she found companionship and happiness once more with her sweet husband, Robert David Estel, who preceded her in death in 2019.
Family was the center of Karen’s life. She filled her home with memories, laughter, and the warmth of love, especially for her grandchildren and their friends, whom she loved as her own. She had a deep love for nature, gardening, and animals, and she brought beauty into the world and was beautiful inside and out.
Karen is survived by her son, Jeremy (Sara) Simonsen; her daughter, Elisha Tooker; her grandchildren, Kaylee Simonsen, Chelsea Loughridge, and Jeffrey Silverman; and her siblings, Jan Callister (Carol), JeanMarie Morris (Matthew), Traci Callister Hancock (Roger).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Dabling; her husband, Robert Estel; her daughter, Brenda Lee Silverman; her parents, Sheldon and Dorothy Callister; and brother-in-law, Matthew Morris.
Karen’s legacy is one of love, acceptance, and the peaceful strength she gave to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
