Leo “Bebo” Taylor, age 81, passed away on June 10, 2025, in Ogden, Utah. Leo was born on January 27, 1944, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Maurice and Naomi Taylor. Leo grew up in Bozeman, Montana, where he graduated from Bozeman Senior High School before proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force in 1962. After being honorably discharged on November 18, 1966, he began his career with the Department of Defense, where he worked as a Supervisory Procurement Analyst for the Military.
Family came first to Leo; he married the love of his life, Sandra, on November 29th, 1963, and he spent the next 61 years devoted to her. Even in the end, everyone knew that grandpa never missed a call from grandma. They had three children, a bunch of grandchildren, and even more great-grandchildren. Leo came from a large family of 6 children who maintained close relationships even when adulthood separated them across different states. Every chance Leo had to sit with his siblings throughout his life was a celebration with cards, beer, laughter, memories, but most importantly, family.
Leo was known for his love of playing cards, Diet Pepsi, peanut butter on a spoon, eating ice, a cold Coors Light, and a good breakfast the next morning. He was good with numbers, dachshunds, and kids; you could expect to see him sitting around family with the newest grandchild in his arms, a wiener dog at his feet, and a cup of ice sitting next to him, all while some sport is playing on the TV in the background. Leo was an honest man who believed in doing the right thing, always, but he also knew how to have fun often get in trouble for “dumping” his grandchildren out of his recliner or holding them up in the air by their feet until they couldn’t breathe from laughing so hard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Taylor, and their children: Lane Taylor; Kimberli Archuleta and her former husband, Randy Archuleta; and Bonnie Batchelor and her husband, Larry Batchelor. He is also survived by is brother in law Sebesbie Alemayehu.
Bebo was the proud grandfather and great grandfather of Randall and Asher Taylor; Nathan Archuleta and his partner Carol Kibbie, along with their daughter Taylee; Nina Archuleta and her spouse Joseph Call, and their sons Donovan, Drake, and Dallon; Nicole Archuleta and her spouse Bryson Berrett, and their children Oakleigh, Gracie, and Hudson; Hayden Archuleta; Shelby Batchelor and her spouse Melissa Montano; Haley and her spouse Blayne Jacobson, and their kids Ayden, Emmy, Serenity, and a baby girl expected in December 2025; and Sylvia and her spouse Trystin Wood, and their sons Kylen, Romen, and a baby boy expected in September 2025. Leo had a large family with many nieces and nephews he loved as well.
He leaves behind a family that loved him deeply and will forever miss him and his stories. He was preceded in death by his brother and “Irish twin,” Marion Taylor, who passed away just two months before him. The two shared an unbreakable bond throughout their lives and a closeness built on laughter, card games, and a lifetime of memories. Though the loss of both so close together is deeply felt, there’s comfort in knowing they are together again, side by side, just as they always were playing cards at a new table. Leo was also preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Naomi Taylor, brother Deland, brother Paul, and Sister Evelyn.
A viewing will be held on June 25th from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Aaron’s Mortuary in Ogden, with military honors taking place at 12:30 p.m. A luncheon and celebration of life, with opportunities for friends and family to share memories, will be announced at a later date.
