Lori, our cherished, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin, has finally “won the lottery” (as per her brother Rick) and left the pain and suffering of this mortal world to be with her many loved ones on the other side. She passed away gently and peacefully with mom by her side, singing “You are my special angel”.
Lori was born in 1962 to Bruce and Cleo Adams, their 3rd born. She had a delightful infancy, and met all normal milestones of walking and talking. She was playful and precocious. At the age of 18 months, she picked up a bean from the kitchen floor, and choked on it. It broke into two pieces and went into her lungs, causing them to collapse. She went without oxygen long enough to cause severe brain damage. After that, she could no longer walk, talk, and was left blind. She remained infant-like for the remainder of her life and required complete and total care.
Mom devoted her entire life to caring for her. It was a labor of love. Lori provided much joy and also many struggles for our family. She was interwoven into the fabric of our lives. Mom cared for her at home for the next 58 years (with the assistance of her children, and later in life with the help of her grandson Andy). In 2022, she was placed in a group home at Northeastern Services in Logan, Utah. She thrived there and received a great deal of love and attention. In June of 2024, she became ill with an infected gall bladder and nearly died. At that point . it was decided that she needed more medical care than her group home could provide and she was transferred to Rocky Mountain Care in Clearfield. Even though it was gut-wrenching for her to leave the group home, it was also a blessing as it was close to mom, who was able to visit often.
Lori is preceded in death by her father, Bruce Willis Adams, and her brother, Steve Adams. She is survived by her mother, Cleo Yvonne Slater Adams Bronson; her step-father, Dohn Bronson; her brothers: Bruce (Rick) Adams, David Adams, Michael Adams, Tim Adams and her sisters, Karen (Kathy) Ellis and Carrie Teeter. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear cousins.
She will be laid to rest in the Syracuse Cemetery on December 31, 2025. A viewing will be held at Aaron’s Mortuary, 1050 South State Street in Clearfield at 11 am, with graveside services to follow at noon.
