Paul V. Johansen passed on a warm afternoon full of spring blossoms and blue skies for miles on April 10, 2025.

He was brought into this world on a cold day in early December 1956. With snowfall being more likely than rain, Rolf and Lorraine Johansen welcomed him into the world. He would be their third child. He is survived by his three siblings Kristine, Sandra and Grant.

Paul grew up in Sandy, Utah and graduated from Jordan High School. Soon after he would meet and marry Lisa. Over the course of 22 years they had three amazing children named Amanda, Justin and Erik.

Paul loved to be involved in coaching his sons in baseball and football. He’d often take bike rides with his family in the early years and go on vacation to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone every summer where he loved to see the sites, float the river, and get close to the buffalo.

Paul was a man who lived life on his own terms. He was a tough guy with strong hands. He was also an artist and a craftsman. As part of his love of his Norwegian heritage he enjoyed building replicas of Viking longships.

He was a collector of many things. He especially enjoyed collecting knives, watches and anything that had to do with Norway and being a Viking.

Paul’s journey would take him down many different paths, and one of those paths would lead him to Connie Rose. He would spend the rest of his years with her and getting to know her daughters Aleeshia and Wendee. They often enjoyed taking long drives and going on adventures together.

Paul enjoyed being outdoors. He loved all of his family. He especially loved his grandchildren Ezra, Ruby and Gavin. Paul oftentimes visited them on birthdays and holidays. Paul adored his dog Annie. He loved traditional Norwegian food especially kipper snacks and Norwegian meatballs as well as M&M’s, Coca-Cola and tacos.

Paul had a style all his own. He liked to wear leather jackets all year long, big rings with skulls and chains with Thor’s Hammer and other Norse related adornments.

Paul was so proud of his kids. In the end he lived a full life. He was surrounded by people who loved him and was able to transition peacefully.

He continues to shine on and watch over his loved ones here on earth, helping to guide them on the rest of their journeys. May he rest in power with peace and love.
