Peggy Hunsaker, age 62, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in her Brigham City childhood home. Peggy lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
She was born on November 4, 1963, the daughter of Patricia Joye Smith and Dale Wayne Hunsaker.
Peggy was a graduate of Box Elder High School. She was known as an exceptional athlete in her high school years, excelling in both volleyball and basketball. She earned All-American honors and proudly received 12 varsity letters, a testament to her enthusiasm, skill, and team spirit. Her love for sports and commitment to excellence inspired those around her and remained a defining part of her character.
Following her passion for helping others, Peggy became a registered nurse, a graduate from Weber State College. Peggy devoted her career to the care of children, working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She worked for 12 years at Primary Children’s Hospital, where she was known for her compassion, skill, and tireless dedication. Throughout her career, Peggy cared for some of the most critically ill children in the Intermountain West, earning the respect and gratitude of families and colleagues alike. Peggy also worked in many various departments as a nurse.
Beyond her professional achievements, Peggy had a zest for life that touched everyone around her. She loved traveling and exploring the world, delighting in new experiences and cultures. She had a deep love for the arts, whether enjoying music, theater, or visual arts. Peggy had a sharp sense of humor that could brighten any room. Peggy was also a steadfast and loyal friend, always there to support, encourage, and share laughter with those fortunate enough to know her.
Her faithful dog, Howie, was her constant companion and best friend, sharing in countless adventures and moments of joy throughout her life. He passed away previously and will be placed alongside Peggy as they are scattered throughout all areas of the world together.
For ten cherished years, Peggy called Oregon home, where she fell in love with the beauty of the coast. She delighted in long walks on the beach, the sound of the waves, and the serenity of the ocean. During this time, she formed deep and lasting friendships, creating a community of friends who shared in her laughter, adventures, and love for life. The memories she made in Oregon remained a treasured part of her life.
Peggy was immensely proud of her two nephews, Ben and Jon Garrison. She delighted in their accomplishments, cheered them on through life’s milestones, and cherished every moment spent together, holding a special place in her heart for each of them and their families.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Peg's medical team in Oregon and Ascend Hospice of Brigham City for their compassionate care, support, and guidance during Peggy’s final days. Thank you to Dr. Nagao and staff. Your kindness and professionalism will not be forgotten.
The family would also like to extend their deepest and most heartfelt thanks to the many amazing friends and beloved family, there are too many to name, who surrounded Peggy with love, care, and unwavering support in her final days. Your kindness, compassion, and tireless efforts to comfort her brought immeasurable peace to Peggy and to all who loved her. Whether through visits, thoughtful gestures, heartfelt conversations, or simply being present, you provided strength and solace that will forever be remembered and cherished.
She is survived by her mother: Patricia Hunsaker; sister: Lisa Hunsaker Garrison; her precious nephew, Ben (Camille) Garrison, their children: Claire, Alex, Jace & Trey; and precious nephew, Jon (Jaclyn) Garrison, their children: Andrew, Ava & Teddy.
She is preceded in death by her father: Dale Wayne Hunsaker and her grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date per Peggy's request.
