R. Lee Martineau was born to Lennox “Marty” Martineau and Dorothy Boyle Martineau on May 17, 1941, in Huntington Park, California. Marty was in the Navy when World War II started and was stationed on a minesweeper out of Portland, Maine. Dorothy with Lee as a toddler shared the cross-country train ride with active military service men whom all embraced Lee with tears in their eyes, thinking of their own children. Later retuning to reside in Southern California. He was big brother to Stephen, Sacramento, and Sister Suzanne, deceased. He was loved by numerous nieces and nephews. Lee graduated from Fullerton High School in 1959 and later graduated from BYU in 1964 where he met and married LeAnn Wiley. After residing in Bellevue, WA for several years, Lee and LeAnn made San Diego, CA home for over 50 years. They retired to Bountiful in 2013. They had three sons, Ryan deceased, his children Abbey and Quentin Goodman and Gabriel. Scott, his two sons Chase and Connor in Draper, Utah. Lance and Kate, two children, Cole and Avery in Poway, California. Daughter and son-in-law Natalee and Dustin Hook, their children Ashlee and Kimball Wilkes, Levi and Quinn in Farmington, Utah. He is survived by many beloved relatives, cousins, and friends. Dearly loved by LeAnn, his children and grandchildren.
Lee worked as a general contractor. He served faithfully in various church callings; often as Elders Quorum President, Ward Clerk, High Priest Group Leader and most important to him serving the youth as scoutmaster for six years. He loved coaching his son’s baseball teams through the years. In retirement, he and his wife served several years in the Bountiful Temple. He numbers amongst BYU’s most loyal sports fan. Family was his pride and joy, going to every event possible.
Thanks to all medical personnel who attended him these past several months.
Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13th Noon, at the Kimball Mill Ward building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 650 S 200 E, Bountiful, UT 84010.
