Richard Donnell “Rick” Cheshire, 53, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning on May 1, 2025. Born on February 2, 1972, Rick lived a life full of laughter, love, and passion for the things that brought him joy.
One of Rick’s biggest hobbies was building RC cars, a passion that showcased his creativity and attention to detail. He also took great pride in his 1966 Nova—especially when it was featured on its own calendar. That car was his pride and joy. Rick had a natural talent for painting hotrods and RC cars, a craft he mastered over more than 25 years working in an auto body shop.
Above all, Rick was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his family with every fiber of his being. He had a magnetic sense of humor and a personality that lit up every room—everyone who knew him loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Rick was reunited in Heaven with his parents, Fred and Kaye Cheshire, who preceded him in death.
He married Sherri Wright (Taylor), and although they later divorced, their 36-year friendship never ended. Together they raised three amazing children, who survive him: Michael (Ashton) Cheshire, McKenzie (Anthony) Fox, and Colton (Shaylynn) Cheshire. He is also survived by Kenley Taylor, whom he lovingly considered his second daughter.
Rick also leaves behind his only brother, Fred Cheshire, now the last living member of their immediate family. In addition, he is survived by 10 cherished grandchildren: Hunter, Whitley, Laramie (who shared Rick’s birthday), Greysen, Kaydem, Lynden, Haizley, Makenzi, Hayden, and CopeLynn; his niece Bri Cheshire; nephews Drew, Kayden, and Jaxon Cheshire; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on May 31st. The time and location will be announced on his Facebook page.
Rick’s laughter, love, and passion will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten.
