Rita Ponce

On Monday, November 18, 2019. Rita Ponce Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away in West Valley, Utah at the age of 98.

Born October 3, 1921, in Jansen Colorado to Jose Matias and Maria Ascension Rebeterano.  Grandma was preceded in death by both her parents, daughters Isabella and Frances Martinez, and all her siblings Manuel, Felix, and Refelita.  Rita outlived all family members of her generation.

Rita had a special love of life and was the 1st of five generations. She was raised Catholic and was very devoted to her faith, praying her rosary daily. She loved music, singing, dancing, playing bingo, watching with John Wayne, Chuck Norris, and Little House on the Prairie but most of all she loved family gatherings with great food, music, laughter and sharing her life stories with her grandkids.

Rita will be missed dearly by all that knew her. She leaves behind Daughter Maria Ortiz (Gilbert Ortiz), 30 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and hundreds of nephews and nieces. Grandma, we love you “a bushel and a peck” and we’ll be “Seeing You Later Alligator “.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St, Ogden, UT.  Friends may meet with family Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm with Rosary at 7:30 pm at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th St, Ogden, UT.
