Robert James Perkins

June 23, 1939 — July 25, 2025

South Weber

Robert James Perkins passed away after a brief battle with Leukemia on July 25, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Bob’s friends and family gathered to bid him farewell in the days before his passing.

Bob was born on June 23, 1939, in Orem, Utah, the second son to Arthur and Avery Perkins. Nine years later his family relocated to Sandpoint, Idaho, to a dairy farm.

Bob attended Sandpoint High School, graduating in 1958. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1958 and served his country honorably for four years.

Bob transitioned to a civil service career at Hill AFB as an Airplane Mechanic. During this time, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Logistics and became a Tech Order Specialist.

Bob had a generous heart and opened his home to many loved ones and friends, taking them under his wing until they achieved success in their lives.

His favorite hobbies included fishing of every kind and fixing cars for anyone who visited his large home-built garage needing help.

Bob enjoyed traveling with his parents, often fishing at Strawberry Reservoir, East Canyon Reservoir, and on the West coast. When Bob’s parents became too old to travel, Bob tenderly cared for them, which brought them great comfort.

Bob met Leota Stott while attending church in his West Point ward. They married on January 18, 2014. Bob and Leota shared a loving and happy marriage for over eleven years.

Bob was honored to serve as a temple worker at the Ogden Temple, which continued with Leota after they married.

Bob greatly enjoyed his large family, attending family home evenings and enjoying the stories of the gospel and ancestors.

He is survived by his wife, Leota; his two daughters from a previous marriage, Wendy Douglas and Angelina Holder; his stepdaughters, Sonya (John) Anderson and Sonda Stott; his five siblings: William (Barbara) Perkins, Victor (Georgia) Perkins, Virginia Dean, Judy Tannehill, and Michael (Marilyn) Perkins; his step-grandsons: Porter (Sadie) Anderson, Corbin Anderson, Garrett Anderson, Taylor (Lilith) Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Linus Anderson and Clemintine Anderson.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; David Tannehill; and Paul Dean.

His testimony of Jesus Christ as his savior burned bright because of the life he lived. Bob was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bob’s funeral will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the South Weber Stake Center, 7989 S 2250 E, South Weber, Utah, 84405. Friends may visit with family at a viewing prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Lindquist’s Layton Memorial Park, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah, 84041, directly following the funeral service.
