Robert "Robbie" Edwin Cowperthwaite

Robert Edwin Cowperthwaite (Robbie), a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 12th, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

He was born on December 5th, 1958, in Ogden, Utah to James and Mary Cowperthwaite. Throughout his life, he was known for his strength of character, kindness, and deep love for his family. His hobbies included trapshooting, fishing, hunting, travelling, skiing, sports, his deep love for music, and the 49ers.

Robbie graduated from Ogden High School in 1977 where his passion and love for baseball grew. He then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Holland. After his LDS mission he attended Weber State University and BYU of Hawaii where he pursued a degree in business and finance. He went on to build a life centered on hard work for the Bank of Utah and R&S Development.

On December 31st, 1992, he married the love of his life, Shelley Dodge Cowperthwaite. Together they shared many years of marriage filled with love, partnership, and devotion to their family. He was a proud and devoted father to 7 children, and he took great pride in watching them grow and build their own lives.

Nothing brought him more joy than being a grandfather to each of his 16 grandchildren. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them—whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply enjoying their laughter.

He was a man who valued family and friends above all else. Those who knew him will remember that he was a man of his word, his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, and the loud way he showed his love.

He is survived by his loving wife Shelley Dodge Cowperthwaite, his children, Rebecca Hogge (Brandt), Melissa Shupe (Tyson), Cameron Cowperthwaite (Cassie), Cody Myers (Marissa), Colten Cowperthwaite (Lindsay), Katie Barnett (Jon), Wyatt Cowperthwaite (Ashley) and his cherished grandchildren, Brylee, Cache, Ellie, Aydin, Paytin, Dyxon, Clinton, Callie, Sofie, Colt, Leo, Bentley, Bexlie, Kai, Spencer, and Tate. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Cowperthwaite and his brothers Jimmy and Mark Cowperthwaite.

A Celebration of Life will be held April 19th, 2026, at the Ogden Gun Club, 8805 S 2000 W, Willard, UT 84340 at 12 PM. All family and friends are welcome to come gather for a memorial shoot and a remembrance for a life well lived.

Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
