Born on August 30, 1942, in Laredo, Texas, Rosa’s life was marked by unwavering dedication to her family and an enduring spirit of resilience and kindness.

Raised in Laredo, Texas, Rosa found love and partnership with Alfredo Z. Torres, whom she married on March 19, 1960, in Texas. Together, they built a family that would become the cornerstone of her life. Family was indeed her greatest joy, with a special bond shared with her baby sister Elva, a relationship filled with affection and mutual respect that defined much of Rosa’s personal world.

Following the raising of her children, Rosa embarked on a career as a tax examiner at the IRS. Her commitment to her work was emblematic of her diligent and meticulous nature, reflecting her responsible and caring approach to all aspects of her life. Beyond her professional and family commitments, Rosa enjoyed spending her leisure time engaging in gambling, bingo, and slots in Wendover, Nevada, activities she embraced with enthusiasm and zest.

Rosa is survived by her daughter Sylvia Rodriguez, married to Francisco, and her sons Alfredo Torres Jr., Gerardo Torres with his wife Heather, and Ricardo Torres with his wife Ericka. Her gatherings were often filled with the laughter and joy brought by her 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her siblings include sisters Valentina Garza with her husband Arturo, Hortensia Cardenas with her husband Sam, and Elva Reyes with her husband Juan, as well as her brother Ruben Herrera with his wife Ramona. Rosa also counted her sisters-in-law Alicia Herrera, Grace Herrera, and Maria Herrera.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alfredo Torres, son Juan Manuel Torres, her parents, sisters Irene Guajardo and Raquel Sanchez, brothers Eduviges Herrera Jr., Edwardo Herrera, and Vincente Herrera, and grandchildren Orlando Torres and Maria Cruz Isel Rodriguez.

In her passing, Rosa Maria Torres leaves an indelible mark on her family and community. Her legacy of love, dedication, and joy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory shall be treasured and honored by all who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
