Ruth Carter Putnam, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away in her home March 25, 2026, at 6:30 AM, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her adoring husband Charles Claude Putnam Jr. after 65 years of marriage, a daughter Valerie, and two sons, Clyde and his wife Laurie, and Charles Eugene and his wife Lori. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as 2 sisters, Terry, and Clara.

Anyone who knew our mother needed very little time to come to love her. Her sweet spirit radiated kindness and love for everyone. She was an example to all who came in contact with her, you could see the light of Christ in her eyes. Her savior Jesus Christ was her rock and anchor in life. She truly built her house upon a rock.

Mom was stalwart in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a rock of faith her entire life, and her example is one reasons the gospel means so much to our family. She loved most of all she loved her family, and that love for us was like that of our Savior. She loved the plan of salvation and looked forward to seeing her parents and sisters that have passed as well. Mom loved going to the temple to do work for those who had passed on before, she loved being in the house of the lord, she would go at least 3 times a week right up till September 2025 when the Lord decided she was just too perfect to keep in this wicked world and the process of bringing her home began. Mom fought so hard, as hard as an 88-year-old could to beat this, she wanted so badly to get back to doing the Lord’s work in the temple, but the Lord had different plans for her. We love her even more for her courage to fight right up to the end, and even then, her maternal nature and love for her family kept her from wanting to quit and go to her heavenly home. She expressed many times that she did not want to leave us alone, but she was ready to go.

Mom’s greatest legacy is her family, and she loved each and every one with a Christ like love. The example she set in the way she lived her life has had a great impact on each of her posterity, especially those who knew her well and spent time with her. Right up to the end you could see the love and the light in her eyes brighten when she looked at her great grandbabies and you could see she longed to have the strength to play with them or dance with them.

Mom was an angel in life and has taken up her angel wings on the other side and now watches over us as our guardian angel, free from the restraints of this mortal body to dance to her heart’s content. We will always love and miss you, until we meet again. Cancer sucks!!!!
