Sandra “Sandy” Stoddard, lovingly known as grams, nana, mom, and Aunt Sandy, was truly one of a kind—someone whose presence could never go unnoticed. You always knew the moment she walked into a room, not because she was quiet, but because she brought life, laughter, and a spark that filled the entire space. That was simply who she was, and it’s what made her so unforgettable.
Sandy was born in San Francisco, California, to Helen Marie Crim and Ernest Edwin Banks. She carried her love for her hometown throughout her life and especially cherished her trips back to San Francisco.
Sandy had a deep love for adventure and never believed in sitting still for long. Whether she was traveling in the RV, cruising along the coast, visiting places like Yellowstone, or trying something new just for the experience, she embraced life fully. Every six months, she and Gordy would hook up the truck and trailer and head to Black Meadows—a place that became part of their routine and held so many special memories. She also loved Harley rides with Gordy, often riding alongside close friends and making their regular stop at The Oaks for breakfast—those rides filled with laughter, stories, and unforgettable moments.
More than anything, Sandy loved people. She had a big heart and would help anyone without hesitation. She was sassy, outspoken, and unapologetically herself—you always knew exactly where you stood with her, and people loved her for it. She had a playful streak and a great sense of humor, always ready to laugh and make sure everyone else was too.
Sandy loved being surrounded by those she cared about. She adored her family, especially her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She could often be found at the ballpark, proudly cheering on her great-grandkids. She loved her dogs deeply, loved being with her husband, and cherished the simple moments—sitting, talking, and reminiscing for hours.
She was a wonderful cook who took pride in teaching others, passing along not just recipes but memories. Time spent with Sandy—whether in the kitchen, on the road, or gathered around a table—was time well spent.
To those closest to her, Sandy was more than family—she was a partner in adventure, always ready to say “let’s go.” From big trips to everyday moments, she made life louder, fuller, and more fun. Even the little things—like the scent of her favorite perfume, Eternity—will forever bring back memories of her warmth, her laughter, and her unmistakable presence.
Sandy is survived by her daughters, Misty Stoddard (Tina Bartrop), Kimberly Stoddard, and Joleen Stoddard; her brother, Jim B. Banks (Patty) of Littlefield, Arizona; her sisters, Kathy Marie Schrater (Steven) of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Pennie Miller of Montana; along with eight granddaughters and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Gordy, along with other loved ones who have gone before her—no doubt already gathered together, sharing stories, laughter, and getting the party started in true Sandy fashion.
Sandy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, strength, and unforgettable memories. Her voice, her humor, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held at later date and family and close friends will be notified.
