Susan Hill Porter

Susan Hill Porter

Susan Hill Porter, 58, passed away on February 27, 2021, after a long struggle with addiction.

She was born July 20, 1962, in Logan, Utah, to LaMont Edwin Hill and Sheila Burnett. She grew up in Tremonton, Utah, graduating from Bear River High School.  She attended Utah State University and The University of Phoenix, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

She held many prominent positions while employed, and was especially proud of her many years spent as the Foundation Director at Weber Human Services.

Susan married Jed Thomas Porter on April 8, 1989, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, Jed and Susan had three beautiful children. They later divorced.

In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Susan is survived by her three children, Taylor Porter, of West Point, Utah, Paige (Brandon) Etterlein, of Farr West, Utah, and Jaxon (Madelynn) Porter, of West Haven, Utah; one granddaughter, Sophia Rose Porter; her mother, Sheila (Norman) Burnett, of St. George, Utah; sister Dana (Bryan) Hardman; brothers Edwin Hill and Jeff (Neisha) Burnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and two siblings, Eric Burnett and Cindy Smyer.

The family takes comfort in knowing that she is now free from the pain and torment of addiction.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.

Guestbook

To Susans family,
I was just thinking about Susan and the friendship we developed working together at Thiokol. Susan was a true friend to me, we laughed together often, and I knew I could trust her with the struggles I was having at that time in my life. She listened without judgment. I always remember her smile - she had a dimple in her cheek when she smiled that was so charming!
When I quit Thiokol and moved out of state we were not in touch, so I was unaware of the struggles she had later in life. I hope this memory gives you some comfort, and even more, a sense of who she was to me. A beautiful, strong, caring friend.

I met Susan several years back. She and I would go for walks, play card and just chat about our children. She loved her children deeply. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time. I know she struggled and is now at peace.

I am so very sorry for your loss and am very saddened. Although we have not been close for many years, Susan was one of my dearest friends in Jr. High and High School. I have fond memories with her in our ward doing road shows, mud slides and lots of other activities. Also great memories in Hi-Steppers and we spent lots of time together with Sandy and Tami. We were all bridesmaids at each others weddings. She was so full of life and always so fun and loved by all. I wish I could come tonight to give my condolences in person, but I am unable to be there. I hope you will all feel much peace and comfort at this time.

I am so very sad to hear about the passing of my dear high school/college buddy, Susan! Susan and I had a lot of good times and laughs together for many years. We shared an apartment in Logan while attending Utah State. Im happy that Susan is now able to rest and has been released from the trials of this earthly life. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. My prayers will be focused on her children and family members during the difficult days ahead. Heavenly hugs to you, my sweet friend, Susan!!
