Ted Wayne Hillstead

May 7, 1935 — March 30, 2019

Ted Wayne Hillstead, 83, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born May 7, 1935 in Afton, Wyoming to John Gray and Dora Mae Hillstead.

He married his high school sweetheart, KaLeen Nebeker, in Kemmerer, Wyoming and they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He is survived by his wife, KaLeen; his six children:  Wayne (Debby) Hillstead, Sindy (Nick) Davidson, Teresa (Alan) Nichols, Carol (Mitch) Holmes, Karen (Cody-deceased) Montgomery, Wade (Melany) Hillstead.  He has 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four siblings:  Garie Hillstead, Madge Tovey, Jan Stock and Lynn Hillstead. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, VerDell  Hillstead; sister, Gwen Sanderson; son-in-law, Cody Montgomery; great-granddaughter, Taylor Tenille Shaw.

Dad had many accomplishments in his career as a mechanical engineer, and started his own engineering companies, Tareco and Tri-Hills.  His greatest accomplishment was his family.  He enjoyed going to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's endeavors with love and enthusiasm.  Dad was an avid reader, loved to write poems and paint.  He loved all the camping trips to Bear Lake and Lake Powell with his family.  He loved whale watching off the shores of Maui with Mom.  Dad will be remembered for his love of family, love of the Lord, his love for learning and gardening.  Dad  loved to be in the kitchen making his own recipes, his famous salsa and his "SOS" seasoning.

Graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Meadow View Cemetery at 11 am, 5315 E 2200 N, Eden, Utah.
