Our beloved Mother passed away surrounded by her family on July 13th, 2025. She was proud of her daughter Krystal and son-in-law Brad to have them by her side as she battled with cancer. Teresa was born in Colorado City, Texas to Clofer (Cliff) and Margaret Jones. She was the youngest of 7 children.
She had a love for reading, traveling, enjoying good places to eat (which was how she decided where to vacation), the mountains and her Native American heritage. Teresa was full of spunk, sass, and quite feisty which she never lost throughout her life. She would always find a way to make you laugh or if you needed someone to be a rock during tough times she would be that for anyone who might need it. She loved being a mom and grandma (Grammy as she was known as). Teresa enjoyed telling stories about her life, heritage and things she had learned. She was taken care of by her daughter (Krystal) and son-in- aw (Brad Peterson) who she cherished spending time with and sharing lots of laughs and memories with. She was recently able to reconnect with her brother Bennie and sister-in-law Aurora (Dundy) when they came to visit.
Teresa was provided hospice care by Applegate Hospice whose staff was extremely supportive to not only her but her family as well. Her hospice nurse Janice was amazing and treated mom as if she were family and made sure all mom's needs were met and she had dignity and was comfortable throughout.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Kim Putman), her parents (Cliff and Margaret Jones), her sister Barbara Simmons, her brothers Dennis Berry and Derald Swain and Nora Berry (sister-in-law), grandparents, aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her daughter Krystal Thomas and son-in-law (Brad Peterson), son Dennis Hamrick Jr. (Kami) and daughter Misty Hamrick, her brother Bennie Johnson, Aurora Berry (Dennis' wife), and her other siblings Dorthy Thomas and Joseph Berry.
Mom was a born again Christian and enjoyed attending church at the Genesis Project. Her faith and belief helped to get her through. A favorite scripture of hers was Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepard I shall not want
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside the still waters
He restores my soul
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake
Even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Teresa was loved and cherished by family and friends. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Mom requested to not have any services and as such the family is honoring her by not holding any.
