Travis Hirabayashi (62) passed away in his home on March 27, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Travis was born on September 23, 1963, in Ogden, Utah and was one of four children to Dick and Frances Hirabayashi. He grew up in Utah, playing football and graduating from Clearfield High School, and later in life received his Associate Degree from the University of Phoenix.
In 1990 he married Sheri Atkinson and together they had a son and daughter. Although they later divorced, he remained a large part of his children's life, supporting them in their many activities, academics, and hobbies. Travis eventually met the love of his life, Kathryn Mendenhall, in 2021. They married a year later, and Travis gained a bonus son. Travis and Kathryn resided in Brigham City with their many cherished cats who Travis spoiled and treated like his own children.
Travis worked several jobs throughout his life, starting his career in farming with his father to ending at Post Cereal. When he was not working, one could find Travis doing his many hobbies. If he wasn't cheering on the Denver Broncos, he was either at the shooting range or spending time with his wife and pets. He was a prolific dart player, and throughout the years garnished many memories and friends. He was great at most anything he tried. He was a fun-loving person and the comedic relief to any situation, always telling jokes with his iconic and infectious laugh.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn, his son Tyler (Helen), daughter Megan, stepson Braxton, and his two sisters Sherry (Reggie) and Terrilynne (Glenn) and their children, as well as his several in-laws and their families. He is preceded in death by his father Dick, mother Frances, and brother Ricky.
On behalf of the family, they would like to thank the many doctors and care facilities that helped Travis in his fight with cancer, Ovation Hospice for treating him so well in his final moments, as well as the friends and family that loved and supported him so much.
The family would like to invite family and friends to a Memorial Celebration (casual-wear) at the Ogden Buddhist Church 155 North St, Ogden, Utah 84404 on May 2, 2026, at 12:30PM – 3:30PM. Travis was liked and loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
