Patricia Ruth Lester

January 17, 1939 — December 6, 2022

Patricia Ruth Moore Lester passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on December 6, 2022.

Patricia was born January 17, 1939, in Elyria, Ohio.  She grew up in Reno Beach, Ohio, near the shores of Lake Erie, and graduated from Clay High School. She spent the majority of her years in the Maumee-Toledo, Ohio area where she worked for the Ohio Air National Guard, The Anderson’s, and the Medical College of Ohio; finally retiring in 2004. During that time, she was involved with the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, Zenobia Shrine Jesterettes, even singing in the Women’s Choir.

After retiring, she moved to Roy, UT, where she quickly won many friends through her involvement in the Utah Chapter of Lady Shriners, water aerobics at the Roy Aquatic Center, the Elks Club (Bingo!) in Roy, and especially through her devotion to the Catholic Faith in the parishes of Saint Joseph’s in Ogden, and Saint Rose of Lima in Layton.

Patricia was pure happiness, and she left many smiles on the faces of anyone who spent time with her. She loved dressing up in costumes, would dance, joke, and get silly anytime the opportunity presented itself. She loved her Irish/Scottish heritage, St. Patrick’s Day, Belleek pottery, York peppermint patties, perfume, red lipstick, crossword puzzles, dot-to-dots, watching THE Ohio State football, and ABC World News Tonight with David Muir (a must).

Mom, ma, mamacita, grandma, grams, granny, GG, sister, aunt; no matter the title, she epitomized the word love, and she will be sorely missed by those who knew her (and all who knew her loved her!).

She was the strongest, most independent woman who ever lived, and she was a superhero to her daughters and grandchildren. Keeping an upbeat and positive attitude through struggles that most could only imagine, especially during the last couple years of her life.

Special thanks to her terrific hospice team at Atlas Homecare and Hospice, particularly the attentive caring of her nurse and CNA, with whom Pat had a particularly special bond.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Mary; her husband, Richard (Dick) Lester; and all her siblings: Philip, Mary Ann, Margaret “Peg”, Edward, Sarah Jane “Sally” and Thomas.

She is survived by her daughters: Denise Checketts (Kerry), Doreen Bucher, Tricia Kirschenmann (Jeff); her grandchildren: Erin Nielsen (Nick), Kristina Lawrence (Justin), Ainslee Trinchitella (Charles), Brandon Bucher, Finley, Harper; and her great-grandchildren: Cael, Owen, Jonah, Nora, Asher, Laney, Lorelai, and Maev.
