Viola Lavon McGuire

Our dear Mother, Viola “Lavon” McGuire, 89, of Marion, NC sadly

passed away on November 24, 2022 surrounded by her loved

ones. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when

we needed her. She also had many friends and family and was

well-loved.

  Lavon was born on October 30, 1933 to Orville and Alice Hall in St

Joseph, MO. After graduation from high school, she met and

married the love of her life Douglas L McGuire on March 20, 1951.

They went on to have three children, Teresa, Robert and Ronald.

When Lavon had her children, she decided to dedicate her life to

being a fantastic and wonderful Mother. Lavon excelled at

supporting her family through the many passions and difficulties

of their lives. Whether that was supporting her husband and her

children, she made it a mission to improve the lives of others.

  In the 1970’s, she began working for the telephone company in

Huntington Beach, CA. She would go on to retire from

GTE/Verizon. She loved her work as a telephone operator.

  Lavon was passionate of most things crafty when she wasn’t

filling her home with warmth and kindness. She loved embroidery,

knitting, sewing, crocheting and cross stitching. Any and

everything to do with crafts she enjoyed. She was the best cook

and her kitchen utensils brought so much happiness to her. She

loved kitchen stores and antique stores. She loved her kitchen

accessories and would be so thrilled at her new antique

purchases. Mom had an extensive collection of Charlie Brown and

the Peanuts gang. She loved her collections of owls, mice, frogs,

duck and turtles just to name a few. We miss her greatly.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband

and daughter-in-law. She is survived by her children: Teresa Lavon

(Tony), Robert (Cindy) and Ronald Lee (Susana “Susy” Estudillo

Decd); her grandchildren: Courtney Lavon (Jeremy), Shannon,

Suzanne and George, Casey and Ryan (Sharelle), great-

grandchildren, Grayson, Jaxon and Tegan LaVonne, Shea and

Skylar.
