Wyn P Holland

Wyn P. Holland, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17th, surrounded by her family, from causes related to advanced stages of Dementia.  She was born on November 13, 1939 in Resolven, South Wales to Norman and Mary Perry.  She was their only child. The family moved to London, England when Wyn was in her teens and her parents managed a shop/café in the King’s Cross area. She met her husband to be, Bruce, while he was stationed in London with the United States Navy.  Once Bruce returned to the states, they continued to communicate back and forth. Bruce proposed and Wyn left her mother and father and traveled 6 weeks by ship to New York Harbor, where seeing Bruce on the dock for the first time in several months, was the best day of her life. She married Bruce Holland on March 1, 1958. When they received a call to move to Roy, Utah, Wyn replied, “Where in the “#%&*” is Roy, Utah?  They had 3 daughters, Candy (Larry) Schenk of Layton, Kim (Vance) King of Malad, Idaho and Tracey (Robert) Archibald of Roy. They lived in Roy, Utah for 52 years.  Over that time, she worked for Industrial Box Board for several years and then for Futura Industries for close to 30 years before she retired in 2007. Wyn and Bruce loved spending their time on their boat or in the motorhome traveling around the country.  They loved to fish and take the girls water skiing at Pine View Reservoir, Willard Bay and later, at Flaming Gorge. They were a part of the Good Sam’s organization for several years. Wyn was a member of the British Club and liked to golf and bowl and spent over 40 years doing both. She was an expert knitter and crafter and won several awards for her Needlework.  Wyn made several close friends on her journey through life and treasured each one. When Bruce passed in 2015, their daughters kept Wyn at home and only when her living situation became volatile in 2017, did they move Wyn to Lotus Park Assisted Living and Memory Care.  There she was supported by a wonderful staff as this terrible disease continued to steal her away.  Many thanks to Lotus Park and Comfortworx Hospice for their loving care of Wyn. Debbie, you accomplished what no one else could in service to Wyn. Thank you to each of you who had a part in her care. She is survived by her 3 daughters and their spouses, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She also acquired several step grandchildren and great grandchildren along the way.

A Memorial Service will be held at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah on Tuesday, July 23, at 1:00 pm with a visitation prior to the service from 12:00 to  1:00 pm.    In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Alzheimer's Association, Utah Chapter.
