Archibald McInally Kelly

January 19, 1940 — September 2, 2019

Our loving and wonderful husband and father, Archie Kelly, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, on Monday, September 2, 2019.         Archie was born in Glasgow, Scotland on January 19, 1940 to Alexander and Margaret Kelly.  He was the youngest of 6 children.  Archie attended school in Scotland, and came out of Trade School as a Machinist.  He served in the British Royal Navy for 2 years.  Archie met and fell in love with Catherine (Irene) Ranachan in 1961 at a dance.  They wed July 13, 1962.  He took his young family, his wife and 2 young daughters, and came to the United States. They landed in Northern California thanks to a job sponsorship through Lockheed.  He spent his whole career working as a manual machinist, at various shops in the southern Bay Area.  Archie and Irene loved bowling, and were on many different leagues in San Jose, for many years.  Archie also played the Bag Pipes with the Royal Canadian Legion Pipe Band, which let the family travel all over California, and the United States.  He competed by himself and with the band at many Highland Games.     In 2002 retirement led them to Ogden, Utah to be closer to family.  For his retirement years he enjoyed working at, and being a member of the Marshall White Center.  He helped teach and enjoyed the water aerobics classes.  For the last 10 years Archie and Irene have been having fun in swim and work out classes at the South Ogden Athletic Club, where they have met many wonderful people and friends.  Archie and Irene attend Church at Trinity Presbyterian in Ogden, led by the Reverend Monica Hall.  They have enjoyed meeting new people and families, young and old, through church; bringing new life long friendships.   Archie has always been very devout to his faith and his beliefs.                  Archie leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Irene.  And his 3 children:  Kristin (Dan) Frazier, Wendy Montiel, and Alan Kelly.  Also 7 grandchildren: Valerie and Natalie Frazier; and Brian, Alfonso, Christopher, Ashley and Kyle Montiel.  And one great grandson, Ashley’s little boy, Lucas.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14 at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 140 N Tyler Avenue, Ogden, Utah    Condolences may be shared at:  www.aaronsmortuary.com
