Judy Lynn Hobson

December 7, 1953 — February 13, 2021

Judy Lynn Benson Hobson was born December 7, 1953, in Malad, Idaho to Raiford and Dana Benson. She grew up in Malad and graduated from Malad High School in 1972. She attended Idaho State University secretarial program and graduated before marrying Lee Hobson, also of Malad. They were married on August 10, 1973. She and Lee made their home in Malad and commuted to Thikol aeronautics for many years where Judy worked as a secretary. She committed 28 years to Thikol. She loved being associated with the company and its ties to engineering rocket boosters for the space program. Later in life, she had the opportunity to move to Florida and work for her nephew Tom Wagstaff in the mortgage business. She moved back to Utah in 2007 and settled in Ogden, Utah until her death in 2021. She was a proud pet mama to three dogs whom she adored, two of which preceded her in death, Ranger and Sam. Also preceding her in death are her mother Dana Benson and father Raiford Benson, her sister Dorothy Jensen, her sister Irene Wagstaff, her nephew Tom Wagstaff, and her former husband Lee Hobson.

Judy was a quiet, caring person. Everyone that knew Judy loved her and her polite nature. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Benson, nephew David Hardister, nephew Kelly Baker, niece Angie Williams Smith, niece Taralee Fitzsimonds, nephews Gary Jensen and Josh Jensen, brother-in-law Terral Jensen, Aunt Janice Servoss, Aunt June Benson, cousins, and several great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a dear friend Edna Morehouse.

Judy loved reading, especially mystery stories and she enjoyed daily walks with her fur babies. Judy was always there for her nieces and nephews when they needed her, and she will be greatly missed. She passed away at McKay Dee hospital on February 13, 2021, from complications associated with her heart. Her final wish was to be buried in Malad.

There will be a graveside memorial service to honor Judy this coming Friday, June 11, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Malad City Cemetery. Anyone is welcome to attend.
