Shawn Wesley Tingey, 63, passed away on April 16, 2026. Born in Logan, Utah, on January 20, 1963 to Wesley and Dorothy Tingey, Shawn grew up on the family ranch with six younger siblings in Woodruff, Utah, where he developed the work ethic and character that defined his life. Shawn served a two year LDS mission in Venezuela, where he met his wife who he cherished, and loved deeply for 39 years.
Shawn was a cowboy through and through. While many hang up their spurs early, his passion for the sport only grew with age; he was a proud and fearless bull rider in the Senior Pro Rodeo. He was known for his relentless dedication, working day and night to support those he loved. Yet, for all his toughness in the arena, Shawn was best known for his gentle nature. He was a man of few words, but everyone who knew him felt the warmth of his love and his embrace. When he wasn’t working or competing, he was at his happiest spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ana-Victoria Tingey; his mother, Dorothy; his four children, nine grandchildren; and his five siblings. They will forever remember his nurturing spirit and the quiet, steady care he provided for others. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Tingey; his brother, Brian Tingey; and his nephew, Eric Tingey.
The viewing will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 1, 2026 and Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at the Layton Hills Stake Center, 2300 University Park Blvd, Layton, UT 84041. Interment will follow at Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N Fairfield Rd 84041. Friends and family are welcome to bring flowers or any donations to support the family during this difficult time.
