“Nobody else held me so tight,
Or made me feel so right,
No one’s eyes shined so bright with love
As my mom, who is now high above”
The world lost a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Enrequieta G. “Linda” Young, on July 31, 2021. Linda passed suddenly due to complications from a stroke, surrounded by her loved ones. Linda was born in Green Canyon, Texas on January 21, 1944.
Linda at an early age lost her mother unexpectedly, which led her to move and be raised by her older sister Guadalupe Salinas in Ogden, Utah. She attended the Deaf and Blind school where she met some of her best lifelong friends during this time. Linda was an exceptional multi-lingual woman, which led to a very diverse set of friends. Not only could she communicate in English and Spanish, she loved to socialize using sign language.
Linda met the love of her life and soul mate, Roger A Young and they wed October 10, 1970 at St. James Catholic Church. She traveled the world for 20 years with her beloved husband Roger, who served in the U.S. Air Force. Everyone she met, she loved and she was loved by so many. Linda and Roger moved back to Utah in 1981. She loved to entertain family and friends with her exceptional cooking at parties, BBQ’s and any kind of family gatherings. You better be sure to invite Linda to any party, ball game or special event, because she would be there! She never missed a single invitation to anything. We can’t forget her love for music and dancing that was always at any get together. Linda and Roger loved to escape to Wendover, a night of bingo and sometimes even Vegas.
Mother, grandmother and friend, we will miss your bright smile and tight loving hugs, along with your egg rolls, tamales and cup-e-cakes. We love you so much and are deeply saddened, but we are so happy that you are reunited with the love of your life.
Linda is survived by her 3 children, in which she loved with all her heart. Lori (Lawrence) Lobato, Mathew Young, Michael (Sabrina) Young, her beloved sister Nena (Carlos) Rojas, her brother Nacho (Mary) Valdez, her very best friend Linda Bukovick, and many nieces and nephews. 11 grandchildren, Tereece (Arce), Chrystal (Jesyka), Gino (Arianna), Tia (Andy), Myles, Abella, Desmond, Joesiah, Alizea, Elias and Lillyanna.
