Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family members of William (Bill) F. Kenny announce his passing in his home on his terms.  Bill was born in Hazleton on Jan 13, 1945 and departed this earth on Mar 16, 2021.  Growing up Bill resided in Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre, and Conyngham (all in Pennsylvania).

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Jack Kenny; his Mother, Hilda Marie (Schweitzer) Kenny; and his eldest brother, Jackie Kenny; thus Bill became our eldest living sibling, a patriarch in sorts.

Bill is survived by his second wife (Meryl) and was preceded in death by his first wife (Barbara). Bill is survived by his sisters: (Margaret Piccola, Patricia Fickner, and Kathryn Kelsey); brothers: (Timothy Kenny and David Kenny), and their spouses and children.

Bill was a child of the 60’s, not long removed from WWII, patriotism still ran high.  Soon after graduating West Hazleton Sr. High School our father passed and Bill joined the US Army to serve his country and also to help our mother out financially.  Following service in the Republic of Vietnam Bill returned to the States to finish off his tour of duty.

Returning home from the Army he secured work while awaiting his college start date.

Bill attended and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a BS degree in Business Administration.  He then continued taking courses at Bloomsberg State College while awaiting employment with the Federal Government in the Internal Revenue Department.  Some years later he transferred to the Treasury Department  where he served more than 20 years as a Special Agent until his retirement.

In his personal life, he lived the dream; a marathon runner, a skydiver, a race car driver, and a SCUBA diver - just to name a few.  Bill loved the ladies, loved to eat, driving fast, and telling dirty jokes; but most of all, he loved his family so very much!

Bill will be sorely missed by his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his friends.  We must let Bill’s life define him, not his death! We will all remember Bill in our own special memories. Henceforth, we will now keep him in our hearts and God will keep him in the hollow of his hand!  Brother, Uncle Bill, UB, Soldier, or Special Agent Kenny.  How will you remember Bill?”
